MEAC Concludes Bowling Day Two Action

 The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) completed the second day of the 2012 MEAC Bowling Championship at Gate City Lanes in Greensboro, North Carolina.

No. 4 Norfolk State rolled their way to the championship round defeating Hampton (4-1), Delaware State (4.5-2.5) and Bethune-Cookman (4-1) in the winner's portion of the bracket.

The Spartans, ranked 12th in the nation, await the winner of tomorrow's Bethune-Cookman/Maryland Eastern Shore match to determine the final championship pair. NSU will vie for it's first-ever MEAC bowling championship title.

No. 5 Bethune-Cookman tallied victories against Morgan State and Maryland Eastern Shore before falling to NSU. The Lady Wildcats will meet Maryland Eastern Shore for the second time during the championship for a chance to play in tomorrow's finale.

No. 2 Maryland Eastern Shore, the defending MEAC and NCAA national champions, moved past North Carolina Central 4-1 and dropped a 4-0 decision to Bethune-Cookman to fall into the double-elimination portion of the bracket. The Lady Hawks rebounded and defeated Hampton (4-1), and Morgan State (4.5-3.5) to earn a spot in tomorrow's semifinal.

Top seeded Delaware State defeated Florida A&M (4-0) then fell to Norfolk State 4.5-2.5 in round two. The Lady Hornets battled with Morgan State in a seven game match before being eliminated 4-3.

The 2012 MEAC Bowling Championship wraps up on tomorrow at 10 a.m. beginning with the semifinal round and concluding with the championship final at 11:45 a.m. The championship match will be televised in a tape-delayed format and will air on ESPNU on March 26 at 10 p.m.

Admission to the bowling championship is free and open to the public.
