Florida A&M's Levan Clark and South Carolina
State’s Suhaila Jad were chosen as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC)
Men's and Women's Tennis Athletes of the Week the conference announced on
Thursday. Hampton’s Lakshmana Satchihananthan and South Carolina State’s
Victoria Khateci received Men's and Women's Rookie of the Week accolades,
respectively for matches played during the week of February 26.
Clark (Sr., Orlando, Fla.) was 2-0 in singles matches against Jacksonville and
Mercer. He defeated Jacksonville’s Fernando Lopez (7-6, 7-5) at the number two
singles position. The senior then captured the point over Peter Tachner in
straight sets (6-3, 6-2).
Jad (Sr., Madrid Spain)
won in straight sets over East Tennessee State’s Paula Jaime (7-6, 7-5) who was
ranked 115th in the country and undefeated. The senior concluded the match with
a 5-1 singles record and 6-0 in doubles mark with teammate Sabrina Mendez.
Satchihananthan (So., Toronto, Ontario) defeated Nicholas Brown of Virginia State in straight
sets (6-1, 6-4). The rookie also topped Nicholas Brown and Matthew Brown (8-1)
in doubles competition to seal the victory point for the Pirates.
Khateci (Fr., Bulgaria)
finished the week with a singles win over East Tennessee State’s Diana
Navrotska (6-2, 6-7, 6-1).

Naeemah Brooks (NSU)
defeated Katelynn Duncan in straight sets (6-0, 6-0) at the number one single
position.
Arsenio Culver (NSU)
won in straight sets against Ryan Sadinski of Virgina State (6-0, 6-0).
Tabita Daolio (HAM)
topped Valencia Williams of Virginia State (6-0, 6-0) and captured the point in
doubles play with an 8-3 win.
Advait Kirtane (HAM)
won in singles play against Virginia State’s Avery Saunders (6-1, 6-0) in the
number two slot and defeated Haug and Gardiner (8-2) in doubles play.
Elysia Ortiz (FAMU)
defeated Jacksonville’s Veronique Spencer (6-3, 6-0) in singles play to capture
the Rattlers lone point.
Anton Protsenko (SCSU)
won the point with a victory over Elon’s Eric Turner (6-1, 6-2)
