NORFOLK, Va., February 6, 2012 - Coppin State's Tony Gallo and North Carolina Central's Ray Willis were named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Co-Players of the Week, the conference announced on Monday. Tyshawn Bell of Delaware State was named the Rookie of the Week while North Carolina Central's Dominique Sutton earned Defensive Player of the Week accolades.
Gallo (G, 5-11, 190, Sr., Lynn, Mass.) led the Eagles to a pair of road victories over Norfolk State and Morgan State last week averaging 22.0 points and 4.0 rebounds. He shot 52.4 percent from the floor (11-of-21) and 50-percent from long range (7-of-14) including a blistering 83.3 percent from the free-throw line (15-of-18). His best performance of the weekend included a career-high 28 point outing in a win against Morgan State. He also recorded five rebounds, five assists, and three steals, shooting 90-percent from the charity stripe, 50-percent from the 3-point line (5-of-10) and 54-percent from the field (7-of-13) against the Bears.
Willis (G, 6-6, 164, Jr., Atlanta, Ga.) averaged 20.5 points and 7.0 rebounds in two conference wins last week for the Eagles. He recorded a double-double of 25 points and 10 rebounds with one assist and one block in 78-61 victory over Florida A&M. He also posted 16 points with four boards, three assists and two steals, shooting 4-of-7 from 3-point range, in a 77-46 win over Maryland Eastern Shore.
Bell (F, 6-7, 220, Fr., Dover, Del.) averaged 12.0 points and 2.5 rebounds in two conference wins last week for the Hornets. He recorded career-highs in made 3-pointers in each game with four against North Carolina A&T and Norfolk State. He also added two assists and two steals in the victories.
Sutton (F, 6-5, 212, Sr., Durham, N.C.) averaged 8.5 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 1.0 blocks in wins over Maryland Eastern Shore and Florida A&M. He grabbed nine boards, blocked two shots and stole one pass in the win over UMES. Against FAMU he hauled down eight rebounds and picked off a career-high four passes. Offensively he also added 41 points and five assists.

Yannick Crowder (FAMU) scored a game-high 17 points with seven rebounds, four blocks and one steal in a loss to North Carolina Central.
Brandon Ford (Howard) totaled 28 points, seven rebounds, three steals and two assists in a win over S.C. State and a loss to Maryland Eastern Shore.
Kevin Dukes (B-CU) scored a career-high 30 points, shooting 8-of-14 from 3-point range, along with one assist and one block in 92-79 win over North Carolina A&T.
Hillary Haley (UMES) averaged 16.5 points and 9.0 rebounds to help the Hawks finish 1-1 last week in conference play.
Garrius Holloman (B-CU) recorded a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds with four assists, one steal and one block in a win over N.C. A&T.
Marques Oliver (DSU) aided the Hornets to a 2-0 mark in conference play last week with 18 points, 16 rebounds, four blocks and one assist while averaging 27.0 minutes of play.
Kyle O'Quinn (NSU) averaged 21.0 points and 12.5 rebounds in losses to Coppin State and Delaware State last week.
Amin Stevens (FAMU) collected a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds including one assist, one block and one steal against N.C. Central.
Jay Threatt (DSU) totaled 22 points, 13 assists, seven steals and six rebounds in a pair of conference wins last week.
