South Carolina State's Dymtro Kovalevych and Suhalia Jad were named the Mid-Eastern
Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men's and Women's Tennis Athletes of the Week the conference
announced today. South Carolina State's Victoria
Khatchel earned the Women's Rookie of the Week honor and Bethune-Cookman’s Moritz Pronath was named the Men’s
Rookie of the Week.
Kovalevych (Sr., Ukraine) defeated Georgia Southern’s Alain Garrido 6-2, 6-3 to
improve to 3-1 in singles action this season. In doubles, he teamed with Anton
Protsenko at the number two spot to capture the point 8-6.
Jad (Sr., Madrid, Spain) was 3-0 in singles action last week for the Lady
Bulldogs. Against Georgia Southern, she defeated Paola Garrido, who was
previously undefeated on the season, (4-6,6-3,10-4) in the number one singles
spot.
Khatchel (Fr., Bulgaria) won in singles action against Savannah State’s Ge'Anne
Hilton in straight sets 6-0, 6-0. She followed with a three set win over
Stetson’s Lindsey Cable (6-1,4-6,6-4). Khatchel improved to 4-0 in singles matches
and 1-0 in doubles play.
Pronath (Fr., Heilsbronn, Germany) defeated Hampton’s Kenneth Greene in non-conference
action 6-0,6-1 and registered the lone B-CU point in the Wildcats 6-1 loss to
Jacksonville.

Kia Batiste (NSU)
defeated North Carolina A&T’s Victorea Austin (4-6,6-3,6-1) and
Winston-Salem State’s Dominique Lindsay 6-3,6-4.
Igor Braga (NSU)
won the singles and doubles point against Winston-Salem State.
Naeemah Brooks (NSU)
captured two singles victories last week in matches against North Carolina
A&T and Winston-Salem State.
Kenya Colbert (NCAT)
aided her team to two points with wins in singles and doubles play against
Fayetteville State.
Arsenio Culver (NSU)
defeated Winston-Salem’s Drew Dunzweiler in straight sets 6-1,6-0.
Chinatsu Kajiwara (B-CU) improved to 5-1 this season in singles play with a win at
the #3 spot against Hampton.
Solana McMillian (UMES)
won the number one singles point with a 6-4, 6-2 victory against St. Francis
(Pa.)
Kimberly Stalling (NCAT) shut out two opponents 6-0,6-0 at the number four
position in matches against Fayetteville State and Norfolk State.
Katarina Szaboova (B-CU) captured the number one singles and number two doubles
point in a non-conference match against Hampton.
