NORFOLK, Va., February 20, 2012 - North Carolina Central's Dominique Sutton was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday. Tahj Tate of Delaware State was named Rookie of the Week while Jyles Smith of Savannah State earned Defensive Player of the Week accolades.
Sutton (F, 6-5, 212, Sr., Durham, N.C.) averaged 22.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 2.5 steals and 1.0 block in two conference wins for the Eagles last week. He recorded a double-double of 24 points and 11 rebounds with six assists and three steals while playing the entire 40 minutes in a 71-66 win over N.C. A&T.
Tate (G, 6-4, 200, Sr., Easley, S.C.) totaled 55 points, 11 rebounds, five assists and two steals as he led Delaware State to a 2-1 record last week. Against Norfolk State Tate scored 25 points, connecting on 9-of-18 field goals, with five rebounds, and one assist while playing 42 minutes in the overtime victory.
Smith (F, 6-8, 220, Sr., Fairburn, Ga.) totaled 13 rebounds, eight blocks and one steal in two conference wins last week for the Tigers. He recorded seven blocked shots along with six boards and one steal in a 76-57 win over Florida A&M.

Glenn Andrews (Howard) came off the bench to average 16.0 points, 3.0 rebounds while recording two steals and two assists in a loss to Bethune-Cookman and a road win over Coppin State.
Anthony Breeze (B-CU) fell one rebound shy of a double-double with 20 points and nine boards in a 70-59 victory over S.C. State.
Simuel Frazier (Howard) tallied 21 total points, nine assists, four rebounds and three steals to aid Howard to a 1-1 record last week.
Hillary Haley (UMES) averaged 14.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 0.6 steals in three games last week.
Rashad Hassan (SSU) averaged 17.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.0 block in a pair of victories over N.C. A&T and Florida A&M for the Tigers.
Darrion Pellum (Hampton) recorded 33 points, six steals and five rebounds to help the Pirates finish 1-1 with a win over Maryland Eastern Shore and a non-conference loss to Delaware.
Marques Oliver (DSU) posted 39 points, 17 rebounds, eight blocks and four steals in three games last week for the Hornets.
Antonio Williams (CSU) recorded back-to-back double doubles with 12 points and 11 rebounds in a win over Maryland Eastern Shore and 21 points and 11 rebounds in a loss to Howard.
Ray Willis (NCCU) averaged a double-double of 16.5 points, 10.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.5 steals in victories over S.C. State and N.C. A&T.
