Bethune-Cookman Falls in Doubleheader to Stetson

DELAND, Fla. - Stetson swept a doubleheader from Bethune-Cookman Saturday with victories of 8-3 and 11-3 at Patricia Wilson Field.

B-CU (1-6) scored first in both games. In the opener, Shamaria Engram's two-run homer in the second gave the Wildcats an early lead before Stetson answered with three runs in the bottom half of the inning. The Hatters blew open the game in the fifth with Courtney Brandt's three-run homer.

Cesley Tafoya singled home Aurelia Gamch in the seventh for B-CU's final run of the game, Gamch went 3-3 with a double while Sabrina Ferguson had two hits.

Calesha Shelly gave B-CU a 1-0 lead in the first inning of the nightcap by scoring on a wild pitch. Stetson scored four in the bottom half of the inning and would score every inning after that.

A two-run Ferguson shot to right field closed it to a 9-3 deficit in the fourth.

Michelle Banuelos-Smith had a double for B-CU in the second game.
