Coppin State holds off Lady Hawks
BALTIMORE -- Jeanine Manley scored 13 points and grabbed 11 rebounds and Coppin State extended its winning streak to eight straight with a 54-47 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference victory over Maryland Eastern Shore on Monday night in the Physical Education Complex.
The Eagles used a 10-2 run over the final 5:30 of the game to pull away from the Hawks.
Coppin State used a stifling defensive effort in extending its winning streak to a season-best eight straight games. The Eagles limited Maryland Eastern Shore to just 29.1 percent shooting, including 24.1 percent in the first half.
The Eagles (15-10, 10-2 MEAC) also received 11 points and six rebounds from Crystal Whittington and 10 points and four rebounds from Spotwood.
With the victory, Coppin State raised its win total to 15 games which is the most for an Eagles team since the 2007-08 edition won 22 games.
Maryland Eastern Shore (9-14, 5-5 MEAC) was led by Kwinnyata Mercer who had 15 points, while Agbasi added nine points and 11 rebounds for the Hawks.

Hawkins Leads Lady Hornets to 67-53 Win Over MSU
BALTIMORE, Md. - Redshirt freshman Tierra Hawkins (Clinton, Md.) posted a career night with 25 points and 15 rebounds as she led the Delaware State University women's basketball team to their second Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference victory of the season with a 67-53 win over Morgan State Monday evening at MSU's Hill Field House.
Hawkins went 10-for-22 from the field and 5-of-7 from the charity stripe en route to her 20th double figure contest. She collected 11 points and seven rebounds in the first half against the Lady Bears.
Hawkins' previous career-high of 22 points came early on in the season in the team's victory over Wesley on Nov. 15. Additionally, the forward previously tallied 13 rebounds in a DSU win at North Carolina Central on Jan. 28. Hawkins also tied a career-best three steals.
The win halted a four-game losing skid for the Lady Hornets as they improve to 5-19 overall and 2-9 in MEAC play.
MSU's Omara Parker finished the game with a team-high 19 points.
Freshman Chelsea Dukes (Baltimore, Md.) finished the game for Delaware State with 16 points on 6-of-12 shooting and four 3-pointers. Dukes also tallied a career-high four steals to lead the Lady Hornets. Sophomore Tasia Bristow (Baltimore, Md.) collected 12 points, going 8-for-9 from the free throw line in addition to five assists.

NCCU Women's Basketball Falls To South Carolina State
DURHAM, N.C.- North Carolina Central University junior Chasidy Williams notched her seventh double-double of the 2011-12 campaign in 78-52 loss to the Lady Bulldogs of South Carolina State University on Monday, Feb. 13, in a McDougald-McLendon Gymnasium Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference matchup.
Williams paced the mighty maroon with 23 points and 13 rebounds, while freshman Kabrina Truesdale lobbed six assists and gathered two steals.
The Lady Eagles finished the competition shooting 20-of-57 from the field at 35 percent, 3-of-14 from the long range, 60 percent on a 9-of-15 effort from the charity stripe.
Four Lady Bulldogs scored in double-figures with Paris Alston leading the pack with a double-double of 19 points and 13 boards. Knotts, who finished the night at 4-of-7 from the behind the arc, tallied 18 points, while Tracey Flowers and Tiana Hemphill dropped 12 points apiece. Cabriel Duren circulated eight assists and forced 5-of-30 NCCU turnovers.
SCSU was 51 percent from the field on 41-of-80, 8-of-26 from behind the arc, and 80 percent from the free-throw line, 12-of-15.

HU Extends Win-Streak to Six with 58-50 Win Over Bethune-Cookman
Washington, D.C- The Howard Women's basketball team defeated Bethune Cookman 58-50 on Feb. 13, in Burr Gymnasium. With a record of 19-7 overall and 11-2 in MEAC play, HU advances its streak to six and improves home record to 9-1.
Tamoria Holmes and Saadia Doyle each tallied a game-high 18 points. Doyle added 13 rebounds to her stat line, achieving her 12th double-double of the season. Cheyenne Curley-Payne finished the contest with a solid performance of six points, four rebounds, and a game-best eight assists.
Frank led BCU with 16 points, seven rebounds, and three assists. Cleniece Roberts chipped in with eight points and six rebounds.

Adair Dominates the Glass In An Aggies Win
GREENSBORO- It's been 10 years since the North Carolina A&T women's basketball team has faced Savannah State. It's likely head coach Patricia Cage-Bibbs will like to see more of the Tigers after defeating them 69-45 at Corbett Sports Center on Monday night.
The Aggies (11-14, 6-6) were led by sophomore Tiffanie Adair, who earlier on Monday was named MEAC Rookie of the Week for the fourth time in five weeks. Adair posted her second consecutive double-double and her fourth double-double in six games, with 14 points and 14 rebounds against the Tigers (9-15, 2-9).
Junior Nikia Gorham had 12 points, nine rebounds and a team-high four steals. Redshirt sophomore Amber Calvin went 11-for-12 at the free throw line with four assists. The A&T bench provided 18 points, including nine from freshman Ariel Bursey.
Kirkland led the Lady Tigers with a double-double scoring 12 points and bringing down 10 boards, while Fila Smith and Hanton followed with six a piece. Smith added 9 rebounds. Senior Blaire Houston led North Carolina Central with 19 points, followed by Williams with 16.
