NORFOLK, Va., February 13, 2012 - Norfolk State's Chris McEachin was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday. Tahj Tate of Delaware State was named Rookie of the Week while NSU's Kyle O'Quinn earned Defensive Player of the Week accolades.
McEachin (G/F, 6-6, 195, Sr., Norfolk, Virginia) led the conference-leading Spartans to a 2-0 finish in MEAC play last week. Against Maryland Eastern Shore, McEachin recorded 20 points, shooting 50-percent (3-for-6) from long range and 7-of-7 shots behind the charity stripe. He followed that performance with a career-best 27 points along with five rebounds, three steals and one assist against Hampton. He connected on 8-of-16 shots in the Hampton win including 5-of-7 from 3-point range and 100-percent (6-for-6) from the free-throw line for the second straight game.
Tate (G, 6-4, 200, Fr., Easley, S.C.) averaged 19.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.5 steals in wins over Hampton and Coppin State. He shot 57-percent from the field and 83-percent from the free-throw line for the week. His best performance included 22 points, five rebounds, four assists and two steals in an 84-81 victory over Coppin State.
O'Quinn (C, 6-10, 240, Sr., Jamaica, N.Y.) averaged 12.5 rebounds, 4.5 blocks and 1.0 steal in a pair of conference wins last week. He hauled down 18 rebounds in a 70-62 win over Hampton, falling one short of tying his career-high. He also blocked five baskets in the win. He opened the week with seven boards and five blocked shots in a win over Maryland Eastern Shore.

Anthony Breeze (B-CU) totaled 29 points, 11 rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal to help the Wildcats finish 1-1 last week.
Adrien Coleman (B-CU) averaged 24.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.5 steals in two games last week for the Wildcats.
Tyler Hines (UMES) averaged 14.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.0 steal as the Hawks finished 1-1 in conference play last week.
Tony Gallo (CSU) scored 23 points with four rebounds, three assists and one steal in a loss to Delaware State.
Alphonso Leary (Howard) totaled 17 points, 12 rebounds, four blocks and four steals to help the Bison finish 2-0 in conference play last week.
Prince Okproh (Howard) combined for 24 points, 10 rebounds, three assists, three steals and one block in conference wins last week over Morgan State and Florida A&M.
Amin Stevens (FAMU) posted a double-double of 19 points and 16 rebounds with one block and one steal in a win over North Carolina A&T.
Dominique Sutton (NCCU) averaged 15.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.5 steals in two games last week for the Eagles.
Jay Threatt (DSU) recorded back-to-back double doubles of 12 points and 10 assists in a win over Hampton and 11 points and 10 assists in a victory over Coppin State.
Casey Walker (DSU) recorded a season high 24 points with six rebounds, shooting 60-perenct (6-for-10) from 3-point range in an 84-81 win over Coppin State.
Antonio Williams (CSU) collected a double-double of 20 points and 14 rebounds, shooting perfectly from the field (7-for-7) in an 84-81 loss to Delaware State.
Ray Willis (NCCU) averaged 17.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.0 blocks and 0.5 steals as NCCU finished 1-1 in conference play last week.
