MEAC Announces Women's Basketball Honors

Maryland Eastern Shore's Adobi Agbasi was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday. North Carolina A&T's Tiffanie Adair earned Rookie of the Week honors, while Florida A&M's Qiana Donald earned Defensive Player of the Week accolades.

Agbasi (Forward/Center, 6-2, Sr., Columbus, Ga.) averaged 19.0 points, 14.0 rebounds and 8.0 blocks to aid the Lady Hawks in victories against Norfolk State and Morgan State.  Agbasi was one block shy of a triple double against Norfolk State with 22 points, 11 rebounds and nine blocks. She followed that performance with 16 points, 17 rebounds, and seven blocks in a win over Morgan State.

Adair (Forward, 5-11, So., Duncan, S.C.) combined for 33 points and 24 rebounds in two games for the Lady Aggies. Against South Carolina State, Adair tallied her third double-double of the season with a season-high 27 points and 15 rebounds.

Donald (Forward/Center, 6-0, Sr., Jacksonville, Fla.) grabbed 21 rebounds along with one block and one steal in two games for the Lady Rattlers. Offensively, she added 19 points and one assist.

Other Top Performers:

Keiara Avant (Hampton) scored a career-high 19 points and pulled down eight rebounds in a win over Delaware State.

Porsha Barr (UMES) was 5-of-8 from the floor with 11 points in a win over Morgan State. 

JaQuayla Berry (NCAT) totaled 17 points, 14 rebounds and 10 steals in two games for the Lady Aggies.

Antonia Bennett (FAMU) hit the 1,500 point of her career, scoring 25 points and11 rebounds in a loss to North Carolina A&T.

Tyisha Bridges (NSU) totaled 23 points, five rebounds and four steals in two games for the Spartans.

Saadia Doyle (Howard) averaged 19.5 points and 7.5 rebounds in two victories last week.

Cabriel Durden (SCSU) was 6-of-9 from the floor with 14 points against North Carolina A&T.

Jasmine Elum (B-CU) led the Lady Wildcats with 20 points and four rebounds in a win over North Carolina Central.

Demetria Frank (B-CU) scored 18 points with five steals in a win against North Carolina Central. 

Rachel Gordon (NSU) totaled 15 points, 19 rebounds, two blocks and two steals in two Spartan games.

Tierra Hawkins (DSU) averaged 17.0 points and 5.0 rebounds in two games last week.

Tiana Hemphill (SCSU) pulled down 12 rebounds with three steals against North Carolina A&T.

Tamoria Holmes (Howard) combined for 41 points, six rebounds and six steals in two Lady Bison games.

Blaire Houston (NCCU) scored a career-high 19 points with five rebounds, three assists and three steals in a win over Savannah State.

Tiara Knotts (SCSU) scored 18 points with six assists and six steals in a win over North Carolina A&T.

Choicetta McMillian (Hampton) scored 28 points, including a career-high eight 3-pointers, in a win over Norfolk State.  

Crystal Whittington (CSU) led CSU with a team-high 15 points in the Lady Eagles' win against Delaware State.
