NCCU Clutches 50-38 Victory Over Savannah State 

DURHAM, N.C. (www.NCCUEaglePride.com) - North Carolina Central University senior Blaire Houston made her senior night one to remember, as she led the squad to a 50-38 win over Savannah State University with a career-high 19 points during the maroon and gray's annual "Think Pink" game on Saturday, Feb. 11 in McDougald-McLendon Gymnasium.

In the 12-point MEAC victory, NCCU's Houston added five rebounds and three assists to her career-high performance, while tallying a season-high 9-of-10 outing from the charity stripe and shooting 2-of-3 from the long range.  Junior Chasidy Williams added 16 points, three steals and four blocks to NCCU's first conference win, as sophomore Lakisha Evans pulled down 10 rebounds.

Jasmine Kirkland guided the Lady Tigers' offense with a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds, while Zadous Pollard circulatedthree assists and Fila Smith stole nine possessions and tallied nine points.

UMES Sends Morgan State to Fourth Straight Loss, 75-57

BALTIMORE (Feb. 11, 2012)-Chelsea Sanders scored a game-high 23 points and Adobi Agbasi added a double-double with a 16 points and a game-high 17 rebounds to lead visiting Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) to a 75-57 MEAC win over Morgan State on Saturday afternoon at Hill Field House.

Agbasi also added a game-high seven blocked shots, falling one shy of the career-high eight she set against Norfolk State on Monday. Porsha Barr came off the bench to add 11 points, while Karona Roach finished with 10 points, as the visiting Lady Hawks picked up their first win at Hill Field House since Dec. 30, 2008 and improved to 37-30 all-time against Morgan State.

Morgan State (6-18, 3-8 MEAC) was led by Tracey Carrington, who scored 10 points and had a game-high three steals. Whitney Southerland came off the bench and added nine points, while Omara Parker also came off the bench and added nine points and a team-high 10 rebounds.

Lady Pirates Use Hot First Half To Top Norfolk State

NORFOLK, Va. - Hampton used a hot first half to roll to a 68-46 win over rival Norfolk State at Echols Hall on Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Pirates (18-4, 10-1 MEAC) picked up their third straight win overall, their fifth straight road win and their 12th straight win over the Spartans.

Senior guard Choicetta McMillian led the Lady Pirates with 28 points behind a career-high eight 3-pointers, while senior forward Melanie Warner added 21 points and a r third double-double of the season.

Senior guard Jericka Jenkins added 11 assists for her 13h straight game with at least six assists. She is now averaging 8.0 assists per game.

The Lady Pirates shot 36.9 percent (24-for-65) from the floor on the night, while also making 11 of their 27 3-pointers (40.7 percent). Hampton also shot 81.8 percent (9-for-11) from the free throw line and held a 37-30 edge on the boards.

Hampton also scored 21 points off 23 Norfolk State turnovers.

The Spartans (9-14, 4-8 MEAC) shot 43.9 percent (18-for-41) from the floor, but made just one of their five 3-pointers - marking the eighth time this season the Lady Pirates have held an opponent to just one trey.

 Tyisha Bridges led Norfolk State with 11 points.

North Carolina A&T Falls to South Carolina State, 71-68

GREENSBORO - Amber Calvin's lunging 3-pointer at the buzzer fell short as S.C. State defeated the North Carolina A&T women's basketball team 71-68 at Corbett Sports Center Saturday afternoon. A&T first-year player Tiffanie Adair had a season-high 27 points and 15 rebounds, while Calvin contributed with 14 points and four assists. The Bulldogs jumped out to a 13-0 lead, forcing the Aggies to rally from 15 down in the first half to cut the advantage to 38-30 at the half. A slow start to the second half forced the Aggies to rally from 20 down in the second half. JaQualya Berry cut the deficit to one, 69-68, with 22 seconds remaining. But she couldn't complete the 3-point play to tie it.

A free throw apiece from Tiana Hemphill and Cabriel Duren gave the Bulldogs a 3-point cushion, which led to Calvin's missed three.

A&T falls to 10-14 overall and 5-6 in the MEAC. S.C. State (10-11) was led by Tiara Knotts' 18 points and six assists.

Coppin State Tops Delaware State

BALTIMORE -- Senior Crystal Whittington led four players in double figures with 15 points and Coppin State extended its season-best winning streak to seven with a 76-58 MEAC victory over Delaware State on Saturday in the Physical Education Complex.

Whittington finished the game 6-of-9 from the floor and 3-of-3 from the free throw line to lead the Eagles to their 12th win in the last 13 games.

Coppin State (14-10, 9-2 MEAC) also received 11 points from Dawnnae Roberts and 10 points each from Ashle Craig and Jeanine Manley. Leola Spotwood added nine points and eight rebounds for the Eagles.

Delaware State (4-19, 1-9 MEAC) shot just 34.5 percent from the floor, including 30.0 percent in the first half. Tierra Hawkins led the Hornets with 17 points.

Howard Snaps Florida A&M's 14 Game-Win Streak

Washington, D.C---February 11--- Howard  (18-7 overall, 10-2 in MEAC play) snapped Florida A&M's 14 game winning-streak by defeating the Rattlers 68-61 in Burr Gymnasium, on Feb. 11. The Rattlers have not beaten HU at home since 2007.

HU finished with four players in double figures. Tamoria Holmes had an explosive game tallying a team-best 21 points off of 8-for-19 shooting, and collecting three steals. Saadia Doyle finished with 13 points and six boards, while Kara Smith added 13 points of her own along with five boards. Zykia Brown had a solid night with 12 points, six assists, and four rebounds in 35 minutes of action.

FAMU's Antonia Bennett tallied a double-double finishing with a game-high 25 points - shooting 10-for-15 from the field - and pulling down 11 off the glass. Tameka McKelton added 12 points and five rebounds, while Qiana Donald pitched in with 11 points and six boards.
