NCCU'S Williams Earns Double-Double In 59-33 Loss To ODU

NORFOLK, Va. - North Carolina Central's first half effort fell short as they were defeated by the Lady Monarchs of Old Dominion University, 59-33, at the Ted Constant Center in Norfolk, Va.

Redshirt senior Chasidy Williams earned her first double-double of the season for the Lady Eagles scoring a total of 17 points and pulling down 11 rebounds. The Fayetteville, N.C., native also forced seven ODU turnovers, dished out one assist and shot an impressive 11-for-13 from the charity stripe, playing in all but three minutes of the contest.

Junior Tiffany Gary also contributed offensively and on the boards for NCCU, scoring eight points and grabbing nine boards.

As a team NCCU shot 25 percent from the field on 9-for-36 shooting, pulled down a total of 31 rebounds, forced 18 ODU turnovers and shot 15-for-27 from the charity stripe.

The Lady Monarchs were led by senior Jackie Cook who led all scorers with 18 points, collected six rebounds, earned two steals and dished out one assist.

Collectively, ODU shot 39 percent from the field on 23-for-59 shooting, gathered 39 rebounds, forced 27 Lady Eagle turnovers, dished out 17 assists, blocked five NCCU shots and shot 8-for-10 from the free throw line.

Lady Pirates Trounce UMBC For Third Straight Win

CATONSVILLE, Md. - The Hampton dominated on the road on Friday, upending Maryland Baltimore County 81-36 at RAC Arena.

The Lady Pirates (7-3) set a season high in points in picking up their third straight win.

Junior forward Alyssa Bennett paced Hampton with a team-high 20 points and 12 rebounds for her first double-double of the season, while junior guard Nicole Hamilton added 18 points and nine assists.

Freshman guard Ryan Jordan came off the bench to pour in a career-high 13 points - all in the second half - and seven rebounds in just 16 minutes.

The Lady Pirates shot 52.9 percent (19-for-36) from the floor in the second half, exploding for 48 points in the final 20 minutes. .

The Lady Pirates shot 41.9 percent (31-for-74) from the floor, hitting five of their 22 3-pointers and 14 of their 20 free throws. Hampton also out-rebounded UMBC 53-33 - including a 27-13 advantage on the offensive glass.

Hampton scored 30 points off of 26 UMBC turnovers.

The Retrievers (3-7) shot just 26.7 percent (12-for-45) from the floor and made just eight of their 17 free throws.

Lambert led UMBC with 11 points.
