DAYTONA BEACH , Fla. - Bethune-Cookman University Head Softball Coach Chris Cochran announced the signing of five players to National Letters of Intent.
Kaitlin Alamprese (Don Antonio Lugo HS, Chino, Calif.); Bailey Conner (La Costa Canyon HS, Encinitas, Calif.); Courtnee Laughlin (Colton HS,Colton, Calif.); Jess ica Valenzuela (Aquinas HS, San Bernardino, Calif.) and Destinee Williams (Heritage HS, Brentwood, Calif.) will join the three-time defending Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference champion Wildcats for the 2014 season.
Alamprese (OF/INF) helped a high-powered Don Lugo team reach the 2012 California Interscholastic Federation-Southern Section Division 2 title game and was named second-team all-conference. She plays with the Southern Cal Strikkers travel team.
Conner (IF/P) was a second-team all-conference selection while seeing playing time at both first base and pitcher. She is a teammate of Alamprese on the Strikkers travel team.
Laughlin (OF/IF) was listed on the 2012 Cal-Hi Sports All-State Softball Underclass second team. She plays her travel ball with Quakes Gold.
Valenzuela (IF/C) hit .500 in 2012 while playing third for Aquinas. She'll play shortstop her senior season. Her travel team is Case Batbusters.
Williams (OF/UT) hit .462 last season while leading Heritage to a 22-3 record. She is a member of the Cal Bears travel team.
B-CU, coming off its third consecutive NCAA Regional appearance, opens its 2013 schedule the weekend of February 9-10 at the Florida State tournament, facing North Florida and Jacksonville in addition to the Seminoles.
