MEAC Announces Bowling Weekly Honors

University of Maryland Eastern Shore's Megan Buja and Norfolk State University's Thea Aspiras was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Bowling Co-Athletes of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday.  

Buja (5-4, Jr., Rockford, Ill.) averaged a 241 and 1,205 pinfall at the MEAC Northern Divisional meet last week. As a team, the Lady Hawks finished with a 10-0 record and first place finish overall. Buja bowled a game high 248 in a win over Morgan State.  

Aspiras (4-11, Jr., Chesapeake, Va.) averaged a 240.8 and 963 pinfall at the MEAC Southern Divisional meet last week. She aided the Spartans to a 7-1 mark and first place finish overall. Aspiras bowled high of 257 in a win over North Carolina A&T.  

Other Top Performers:

Brianna Bush (DSU) bowled a career-high 266 in a win over Morgan State and totaled 1,154 pinfall and a 230.8 average at the MEAC Northern Divisional meet.  

Staci Hilliard (B-CU) averaged a 206 at the MEAC Southern Divisional meet.  

Carrie Hopkinson (FAMU) bowled a season-high 211 against North Carolina Central at the MEAC Southern Divisional meet.

Cherise Poole (NCAT) averaged a 202.75 for the Aggies, including a team best 245 in a win over Florida A&M at the MEAC Southern Divisional meet.
