Georgia Holds Off Florida A&M, 82-73
ATHENS, Ga. (Dec. 29) - Muhammad Abdul-Aleem recorded a double-double and two other Rattlers scored in double figures as Florida A&M dropped a 82-73 contest to the University of Georgia, Saturday afternoon at Stegeman Coliseum.
Abdul-Aleem scored a team high 16 points and pulled down 11 rebounds to lead the Rattlers, while Jamie Adams added 12 and Markee Teal finished with 10. D'Andre Bullard dished out four assists in his first game back.
UGA had three Bulldogs to score in double-figures as Nemanja Djurisic scored a game high 21 points to lead all scorers, followed by Kentavious Caldwell-Pope with 11 and Brandon Morris added 10. Caldwell-Pope led UGA on the boards with nine and Vincent Williams dished out a team four assists.
The Rattlers finished the game shooting 37.0 percent (27-of-73), whereas the Bulldogs shot 44.8 percent (25-of-58). FAMU held the rebounding margin over UGA 45-41.
UGA raised their record to 5-7, while FAMU lowers their record to 4-8 on the season.

Kemp, Paul lead ECU to 74-63 Win over NSU
GREENVILLE, N.C. - Maurice Kemp and Miguel Paul combined for 42 points to lift East Carolina over Norfolk State, 74-63, Saturday afternoon at Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum.
Kemp shot 9-of-13 for a season-high 23 points, while Paul added 19, including an 11-of-12 effort from the free throw line. The victory improved ECU's record to 8-3 while the Spartans fell to 6-9 with their fourth straight loss, all on the road.
The Spartans were led by junior Pendarvis Williams, who added 15 points and seven rebounds on the day, including 11 points in the second half. Freshman Rashid Gaston scored eight points in the second half and 12 all-together to go along with seven boards.
For the third straight game, an NSU opponent lit up the scoreboard with its shooting, as East Carolina knocked down 24-of-49 (49 percent) for the game, compared to a 35.8 percent effort from the Spartans on 24-of-67 shooting.
Senior Rob Johnson and junior Malcolm Hawkins chipped in with eight points each, while Johnson also grabbed seven boards.
Robert Sampson chipped in with 12 points and nine boards for ECU, while Paul led all players with eight assists. The Pirates shot 21-of-26 from the charity stripe, including 13-of-16 in the second half.
NSU converted on just 11-of-17 from the free throw line.

NCCU Gives Marquette All It Can Handle In 75-66 Defeat
MILWAUKEE, Wis. - North Carolina Central's Jeremy Ingram scored a game-high 20 points as Marquette had to use a 15-to-6 run to break open a tie game over the final six minutes to hold off the visiting Eagles 75-66 on Saturday afternoon in front 13,600 fans inside the BMO Harris Bradley Center in Milwaukee, Wis.
For the third straight game, Ingram scored 20 points while Stanton Kidd nearly recorded another double-double with 19 points and eight rebounds along with three assists and a steal. Ingram finished 4-for-8 from three-point range along with three assists, and a career-high four steals in the loss.
Marquette (9-3) had four players in double figures as Vander Blue and Cadougan both recorded 16-point efforts as sophomore Todd Mayo came off the bench for 12 points in his second game of the season. Davante Gardner, a 6-8, 290-pound center, ended the afternoon with 10 points for the Golden Eagles.

Sun Devils Top Coppin State
TEMPE, Ariz. - Troy Franklin, Michael Murray and Patrick Cole each scored 13 points, but Jahii Carson had 15 points, eight rebounds and seven assists leading Arizona State to a 68-52 victory over Coppin State on Saturday in the Wells Fargo Arena.
Carson, who finished 6-of-12 from the floor, led four players in double figures in scoring for Arizona State. Jonathan Gilling added 14 points, while Carrick Felix and Evan Gordon each added 11 points.
Arizona State (11-2) shot 47.2 percent from the floor, while limiting Coppin State to just 33.3 percent shooting.
Coppin State (3-11) also received five rebounds and four assists from sophomore Taariq Cephas. Murray led the Eagles with six rebounds and Patrick Cole added five.

Late First Half Run Keys Terps' Past Hornets
College Park, Md. (Dec. 29, 2012) --- Delaware State led 16-15 before Maryland ran off 17 straight points en route to a 79-50 win over the Hornets at the Comcast Center this afternoon. The Terrapins won their 11th straight game to improve to 11-1 this season. Delaware State dropped its third straight game, each to a major conference opponent, to fall to 5-8.
Maryland's 17-point run began with a jumper by Charles Mitchell to give his team a 17-16 lead. He capped off the rally with basket off a steal by Dez Well to put the Terps ahead 32-16 with 4:43 left in the half.
Tahj Tate led all players with 20 points. He has reached double figures in scoring in each of the last six games and 11 times this season, including four with 20-or-more points.
Bowman added nine points and five rebounds, while Casey Walker tallied seven points and seven rebounds for the Hornets.
Charles Mitchell led three Maryland players in double figures with 19 points. He was 8-for-12 from the field, and also led all players with 14 rebounds.
Dez Wells (5-7 FGs) and Seth Allen added 10 points each for the Terps.
Delaware State was 18-for-56 from the field (32.1%), including 3-of-15 from three-point territory. The Hornets shot a season-best 91.7% from the free throw line (11-for-12).
Maryland was 33-for-58 from the floor (56.9%) in the game.
