UMES Erases 13-Point Deficit But Defeated By Brown 57-46

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - UMES came back from down 13 points and outrebounded its opponent 56-40, but fell to Brown 57-46 in the Terrapin Classic consolation game on Saturday night.  The Lady Hawks drop to 4-8 while Brown goes to 4-6.

For the 10th time this season, Roach led UMES in scoring with 13 points, adding six rebounds.  Alexis Udoji earned a career-high 12 rebounds, also earning five points, while Jessica Long was close to a double-double with 10 points and seven boards.

Sheila Dixon finished with a game-best 20 points for the Bears as well as six rebounds.  Lauren Clarke ended with 12 points and Sophie Bikofsky had six points and a team-high eight rebounds.

Northern Illinois Cruises Past NSU, 69-38

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - Norfolk State continued to struggle on the road as they fell to Northern Illinois, 69-38, in the Cavalier Classic at John Paul Jones Arena on Saturday afternoon.

The Huskies improved to 5-7 while the Spartans fell to 2-10 for the season.

Senior Batavia Owens recorded a season-high eight points and three rebounds to lead the Spartans. Fellow senior Recca Trice and juniors Aivah Parham and Kashay Barnes each contributed six points for NSU. The Spartans were held to 28.8 percent shooting while the Huskies finished the night at 46.7 percent from the floor.

The Huskies had three players in double-figures. Alexis Lindstrom led all scorers with 17 points. Natecia Augusta tallied 12 points and six rebounds while Amanda Corral added 11 points, six rebounds and two steals.

Lady Hornets Fall To CCSU In Miami Tournament Consolation

Coral Gables, Fla. (Dec. 29, 2012) ---Delaware State lost its bid for a consolation game victory in the Miami (Fla.) Holiday Tournament today.

Jaclyn Babe scored a game-high 23 points to lead Central Connecticut to a 76-54 win over the Lady Hornets in the tournament consolation at the Bank United Center. Babe was 10-for-14 from the field, including a 3-pointer, and 2-of-2 at the free throw line.

Delaware State was led by Tierra Hawkins with 18 points. Hawkins has reached double-figures in scoring in each of the last four contests and in 10 of DSU's 12 games this season. She leads the Lady Hornets in scoring at 17.5 points per-game.

Deanna Harmon added 13 points on perfect shooting for the Lady Hornets. Harmon was 6-for-6 from the field, including a three-point field goal. Keyanna Tate tallied nine points (4-6 FGs), while Kianna D'Oliveira contributed seven points, a team-high six rebounds and two blocks in the contest.

SC State Closes Out 2012 with a Loss to Old Dominion

SC State closed out the 2012 calendar year with a 79-63 non-conference loss to Old Dominion. The loss is the second straight for the Lady Bulldogs.

Senior guard Tiara Knotts continued to play well for SC State, who fell to 8-4 on the season. Knotts, who scored the Lady Bulldogs first nine points off three, 3-pointers, finished with a game-high 21 points. Senior guard Trinese Fox came off the bench to record her first double-double of the season, 13 points-14 rebounds, including 9-of-10 from the free-throw line.

Old Dominion (9-2) was paced by Shea Kelley with 20 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocks. Jackie Cook was the only other Lady Monarch player to score in double figures with 16.

Lady Rattlers Fall to South Florida, 100-75

ORLANDO, Fla. (Dec. 29) - Jasmine Grice recorded her third double-double of the season as Florida A&M Women dropped a 100-75 decision to South Florida, Saturday afternoon at the USF Sun Dome.

Grice paced the Lady Rattlers with 30 points and 11 rebounds as she scored 19 of 30 points in the second half. Kimberly Sparkman added 22 points to round out the cast of Lady Rattlers to score in double figures, while Andreya Lacy dished out a team high six assists.

USF had three Golden Bulls to score in double figures as Andrea Smith scored 29 points, followed by Andrell Smith with 26 and Courtney Williams with 12. Andrea Smith led the Bulls on the boards with nine, while both Andrell Smith and Inga Orekhova dished out six assists each.
