MEAC Announces Women's Basketball Honors

Delaware State forward Tierra Hawkins was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday. North Carolina A&T's Eboni Ross earned Rookie of the Week honors, while South Carolina State's Fannie Goodwin earned Defensive Player of the Week accolades.

Hawkins (Forward, 6-2, So., Clinton, Md.) scored 28 points, including 12-of-15 from the field and 4-of-8 from the free-throw line in a 67-52 conference win over Maryland Eastern Shore. Hawkins stole three passes and blocked one shot in the victory.

Ross (Center/Forward, 6-2, r-Fr., Columbia, S.C.) shot 50-percent from the floor (5-of-10) to aid the Lady Aggies to a 1-1 mark last week. The guard combined for 11 points and six rebounds with three blocks and one steal.

Goodwin (Center, 6-2, Sr., Hopkins, S.C.) grabbed 20 rebounds and blocked 11 shots in three games for the Lady Bulldogs. In a win over Jacksonville, Goodwin pulled down nine rebounds and totaled eight blocks. Offensively, she added 23 points and one assist.

Other Top Performers:

JaQuayla Berry (NCAT) totaled 23 points, 13 rebounds and four steals in two games last week.

Kenia Cole (Hampton) recorded a career-high 20 points, including 8-of-9 from free-throw range in a 59-46 win over South Carolina State.

Tisha Dixon (NCCU) recorded 11 points and seven rebounds against Wofford.

Rachel Gordon (NSU) grabbed 10 boards in a 62-55 loss to Savannah State.

Jasmine Grice (FAMU) posted a double-double of 19 points and 12 rebounds against VCU.

Nicole Hamilton (Hampton) scored 10 points, grabbed nine rebounds and blocked two shots in a win over South Carolina State.

Erin Hogue (SSU) combined for 23 points and 15 rebounds in two games for the Tigers.

Bianca Jarrett (MSU) scored a career- and game-high 26 points at Cornell, including 6-of-10 from 3-point range.

Mykala Jones (SCSU) scored 11 points, four rebounds and five assists in a win over Southern Wesleyan.

Ezinne Kalu (SSU) averaged 20.5 points, 2.5 rebounds and 3.5 steals to aid the Tigers to a 1-1 mark last week.

Tracy King (NCAT) led the team in scoring with 22 points in a 67-27 win over North Carolina Central.

Tiara Knotts (SCSU) averaged 18.6 points and 3.6 assists to aid the Lady Bulldogs to a 2-1 mark last week.

Kimberly Sparkman (FAMU) averaged 18.5 points and 2.5 rebounds in two games for the Lady Rattlers.

Leola Spotwood (CSU) was just shy of a double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds in a three-point loss to Towson.

Recca Trice (NSU) scored 12 points and dished out seven assist in a 62-55 loss to Savannah State. 

Chasidy Williams (NCCU) combined for 31 points, 22 rebounds, and six steals in three games for the Eagles.
