Hawks Close Out 2012 With Sweep Of MEAC North
TOWSON, Md.-Bowling in their second conference divisional match-up of the season, the Lady Hawks went on a perfect 10-0 mark, extending their record to 30-3 and pushing their Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Northern Division record to 19-1.
Megan Buja dusted off the cobwebs of the first two weeks to dominate the field. She rolled all five team games to the tune of a 1205 pinfall and average an impressive 241 with a high game of a 248. Not far behind was All-American Anggie Ramirez, who tallied an 1,111 in her five games to average a 222.2 with a high game of a 245. Both of their high games came in the win over Morgan State.
Mariana Alvarado, T'nia Falbo, Kristie Lopez and Tatiana Munoz all bowled three team games each with Munoz getting the better of them to average a 223. Alvarado was also solid averaging just under a 219.
UMES topped Hampton (1032-8256), No. 20 Delaware State (1096-953), Coppin State (1057-731), Howard (1004-914) and Morgan State (1183-881).

NSU Dominates in 2nd MEAC Southern Divisional
CHESAPEAKE, Va. - A little home field advantage was all the No. 11 Norfolk State bowling team needed, as the Spartans dominated on the way to a 7-1 record this weekend at the MEAC Southern Divisional at the AMF Lanes in Chesapeake.
NSU rolled a perfect 4-0 day and set a new team record in the process. The Spartans went 3-1 on Sunday to improve their conference record to 13-3 following the second of three divisionals this year.
Junior Thea Aspiras topped all players with a 240.8 average in four games, never rolling anything less than a 212. Sophomore Delilah Bethel also participated in all four games and came away with a 220.0 average.
Sophomore Kelsea Yarbrough joined those two on the all-tournament team with a 204.0 average in four games as well. Senior Jessica Overton rolled a 244 in her only game, while sophomore Courtney Brown posted a 215.0 average in three games. Senior Sheila-Marie Smith and sophomore Carrie Hickey each took part in two games, with Smith carding a 214.0 average and Hickey tallying a 184.0.
