SC State Lady Bulldogs Drop Non-Conference Decision to South Carolina
Columbia, S.C.- SC State fell to #21 University of South Carolina, 45-65, in a non-conference matchup at the Colonial Life Arena in Columbia, S.C. The loss ends a four-game win streak for the Lady Bulldogs.
Senior guard Tiara Knotts recorded her ninth double-digit performance of the season as she led the SC State (8-3) with 14 points, including 4-of-4 from the charity stripe. Senior Trinese Fox was the only other Lady Bulldog player to score in double-figures as she came off the bench to drop in 10 (6-of-6 from the line).
South Carolina was paced by Tiffany Mitchell who scored a game-high 21 points with 11 rebounds. Aleighsa Welch scored 16 with a game-high 14 rebounds and Elem Ibiam rounded out three players in double-digits with 11.

Roach's 23 Points Leads UMES To 51-45 Victory Over UMBC
PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - With 23 points from Karona Roach and UMES finishing on a 23-10 run, the Lady Hawks came back to defeat UMBC 51-45 for their fourth win of the season. UMES improves to 4-6, while UMBC falls to 3-8.
Roach's 23 points is a new career-high for the senior, surpassing her 20-point mark against Mount St. Mary's earlier this season. Sha-Kiyla Finney had nine points, five boards and four assists, while Shawnee Sweeney scored 10 points with a pair of assists.
For UMBC, White led the Retrievers with 15 points, adding three rebounds. Raven Harris concluded with 12 points, seven steals and six boards.

www.umeshawks.comLady Rattlers Fall 71-57 To Western KentuckyDAYTON,Ohio- Florida A&M shot a paltry 29-percent from the field in a loss to the Western Kentucky Lady Toppers in the finals of the Wright State Invitational presented by Holiday Inn at the Wright State Nutter Center on the campus of Wright State University.
The Lady Rattlers had four players to finish in double figures, but the percentages were simply too low to pull out a win over WKU. Jasmine Grice scored 14 points on 5-of-20 shooting from the field. She led the Lady Rattlers despite struggling as well from the three-point line, going 1-for-9 from behind the arc. Kimberly Sparkman scored 13 points on 4-of-11 shooting from the field, but was solid going 3-of-7 shooting from three-point range.
Jamie Foreman was a welcomed returnee to the team, and her impact was immediate as she too scored 13 points from the post. Foreman went 5-of-13 from the field and 3-for-3 from the free throw line. Patrice Collie rounded out the Lady Rattlers in double figures as she carded 10 points, while grabbing 10 rebounds for a double-double. Foreman also scored a double-double as she led the team with 12 rebounds.
The Lady Toppers were led by Chastity Gooch, who led all scorers. She shot a scorching 8-of-10 from the field and went a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line to score 20 points and grabbed 14 rebounds. Bianca McGee came off the bench to score 17 points for WKU, hitting three three-pointers. Jalynn McClain went 5-of-10 from the field, ending with 13 points. Alexis Govan was the fourth WKU player in double figures as she chipped in 13 points on the day.

www.famuathletics.com Lady Hornets Stumble In Second Half At TowsonTowson, Md.--- A solid first half by Delaware State was overshadowed by cold shooting the rest of the way in a 69-61 loss at Towson this evening. The Lady Hornets were outscored 34-21 in the final 20 minutes after holding a 40-35 lead at intermission.
The win snapped a four-game losing streak for Towson, which improved to 5-5 on the season. DSU dropped its fifth straight to fall to 2-8.
The DSU loss also overshadowed a career performance by junior guard Jade Washington, who had a team-high 18 points. Washington was 6-for-9 from the field, including two 3-pointers.
Tierra Hawkins added 15 points for DSU, her eighth double-figure scoring game of the season.
Towson's Ciara Webb led all players with 22 points. She was 7-of-11 from the field, including three-for-five from three-point territory, and 5-of-5 at the free throw line.
Tanisha McTiller added 20 points for the Tigers.

TOLEDO, Ohio - Hampton got back into the win column on Friday afternoon, beating Evansville 64-45 at Savage Arena in the consolation game of the inaugural Toledo Invite.
The Lady Pirates (8-4) had three players in double figures, led by sophomore guard Kenia Cole, who had 16 points on 6-for-15 shooting. Senior guard JoNiquia Guilford came off the bench to pour in 14 points and grab a team-high six rebounds.
Junior guard Nicole Hamilton added 10 points to go along with six assists. Senior forward Ariel Phelps also had six rebounds.
Hampton also held a 24-16 edge in bench scoring, a 12-0 advantage on the fast break, and a 30-18 edge in the paint.
Evansville (2-9) shot 31.3 percent (15-for-48) from the floor and hit just four of its 20 3-pointers. The Purple Aces out-rebounded Hampton 41-32.
Samantha Heck led Evansville with 12 points, while Morgan Ladd added 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Howard Defeats Pepperdine, 55-51
Pepperdine played its final game before breaking for the Christmas holiday and dropped a disappointing 55-51 non-conference decision to Howard Friday afternoon at Firestone Fieldhouse. The Waves (3-7) simply could not contain Saadia Doyle who scored a game-high 25 points for the Lady Bison (5-5) in the first meeting between the two teams.
Ea Shoushtari scored a team-high 13 points for the Waves to go along with five rebounds, four assists and no turnovers in 38 minutes. Shay Cooney-Williams chipped in 11 points and four rebounds.
Pepperdine shot .395 (17-43) from the floor, but sizzled from beyond the arc, connecting on a season-high .700 (7-10). Howard hit at a chilly .268 (15-56), including a .167 (2-12) rate from long distance. The game was won at the free throw line and the Lady Bison shot .767 (23-30) from the stripe led by Doyle, who went 15-of-18. Howard entered the game shooting just .608 from the foul line in 2012-13.
Howard won the battle of the boards 38-34, but owned the offensive glass 18-8. The Lady Bison outscored Pepperdine 22-6 in the paint and scored 19 points off 22 turnovers.

Coppin State Tops Robert Morris Behind Maynard
BALTIMORE -- Shanice Maynard scored a career-high 14 points and Coppin State snapped a five-game losing streak with a 59-52 victory over Robert Morris on Friday in the Physical Education Complex.
Maynard finished the game 5-of-9 from the floor, including 3-of-4 from the three-point line, to help lead the Eagles to their first victory since an 80-61 victory over Longwood on Nov. 24.
Leola Spotwood had 14 points and seven rebounds for Coppin State, while Larrisa Carter had nine points and six rebounds. Kyra Coleman and Ashle Craig each scored eight points for the Eagles.
Coppin State (4-7) forced Robert Morris into 35 turnovers and scored 26 points off of the turnovers.
Robert Morris (0-10) was led by Artemis Spanou who scored a game-high 21 points and grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds. Kelly Hartwell scored 13 points and collected nine rebounds off the bench.
Coppin State won despite shooting just 37.7 percent from the floor and getting out-rebounded 44-28.
