Parham Lifts NSU over Chowan, 60-56
NORFOLK, Va. - Norfolk State erased a nine point deficit in the second half to come out with a 60-56 victory over Chowan at Joseph Echols Hall on Wednesday night. The win against Chowan snapped NSU's eight-game losing streak.
The Spartans improved to 2-8 and Chowan fell to 0-9.
Junior Aivah Parham netted a career-high 17 points to lead NSU offensively as sophomore Ebony Brown and junior Kashay Barnes added 11 points each. The Spartans were held to 33.9-percent shooting while Chowan finished the night at 35.2 percent from the floor. NSU outscored Chowan 30-18 in the paint.
Talaya Lynch led all scorers and fell short of a double-double as she led Chowan with 19 points and nine rebounds. Janelle Murphy tallied 14 points and two steals. Chowan shot 58.3-percent from the 3-point line.
Recca Trice had seven assists to give her 391 career assists and 59 on the season.

Stout Defense Leads B-CU in 59-48 Georgia Southern Win
DeLAND, Fla. - Defense ruled the day in the final game of the 25th annual Hatter Classic, Wednesday at the Edmunds Center. The Lady Wildcats extended their win streak to three, moving to 5-5 heading into the holiday break with a 59-48 victory over Georgia Southern to close out the tournament.
For the second time in three games, the Lady Wildcats held an opponent under 30 percent shooting.
Shakeyia Colyer hit 3-of-6 from the floor and made a season-best 7-of-8 free throws to earn a season-high 13 points to lead all scorers, in addition to snagging five rebounds. Terrenisha Hollis logged double-digit scoring for the fourth consecutive game with 12 points, collecting four steals in the contest.
Hollis earned All-Tournament honors for her performance, amassing 27 points, seven rebounds, five assists, four steals and two blocks to lead the Lady Wildcats to a 2-0 record in the Hatter Classic.

Second-Half Lead Slips Away From NCCU In 49-39 Loss At UNC-Greensboro
GREENSBORO, N.C. (www.NCCUEaglePride.com) - North Carolina Central senior Chasidy Williams and freshman Amber Neely topped all scorers with 13 points apiece, but UNCG rallied from a second-half deficit to beat the Lady Eagles 49-39 on Wednesday night inside Fleming Gymnasium in Greensboro, N.C.
In a physical, back-and-forth contest, NCCU won the rebounding battle with a season-high 43 boards, including 23 on the offensive glass, compared to 34 total rebounds for the Spartans. The visiting Lady Eagles also collected a season-best 15 steals, but turned the ball over 25 times, resulting in 20 points for UNCG.
Both teams struggled to find the mark in the opening 20 minutes of action. NCCU shot 6-of-26 from the field (23.1 percent), while the Spartans connected on 8-of-31 (25.8 percent), as UNCG held a slim 19-17 halftime advantage.
To go along with the game-high 13 points, Williams added six rebounds, four steals and two blocked shots, while Neely contributed five boards, two assists and two steals. NCCU rookie forward Tisha Dixon recorded six points and eight rebounds, junior center Tiffany Gary grabbed eight caroms with three steals, and junior guard Tenika Neely posted four points, four rebounds and four steals.
UNCG (3-6) was paced by guard Lucy Mason with 12 points, followed by Janae' Stevenson with eight points. Sarafina Arthur-Williams came off the Spartans' bench for eight points, five rebounds and four steals.

Lady Rattlers snapped five-game losing skid with win over Saint Francis, Wednesday
DAYTON, Ohio (Dec. 19) - Florida A&M snapped their five game losing streak as the Lady Rattlers defeated Saint Francis, 69-65, here Wednesday afternoon at the Wright State Nutter Center in their first game of the Wright State Tournament presented by Holiday Inn.
FAMU (3-7) had three Lady Rattlers to score in double-figures as Jasmine Grice scored 18 of her 27 points in the second half to lead all scorers, followed by both Kimberly Sparkman and Cristal Lirano with 12 points each to round out cast of double-digit scorers for FAMU.
SFU (4-5) had three Red Flash to score in double-digits as both Shene Fleming and Alli Williams finished with a double-double as Williams scored 20 points and pulled down 16 rebounds, followed by Fleming with 11 points and 10 boards for SFU. Nickia Gibbs tallied 12 points to round out double-digit scorers for SFU.
The Lady Rattlers finished the contest shooting 41.3 percent (26-of-63) from the field , while the Red Flash shot 39.4 percent (28-of-71). SFU held the rebounding margin over FAMU 44-42.
