North Carolina A&T Falls to CharlotteGREENSBORO-North Carolina A&T was bested by Charlotte 57-47 on Tuesday evening at Corbett Sports Center, as the 49ers outrebounded the Aggies and used their defense to shut down the Aggie guards.
The Aggies allowed 20 offensive rebounds against the 49ers, which allowed Charlotte to earn 19 second-chance points. The Aggies have given up 43 offensive boards in their last two games-a stat which does not please Robinson.
Charlotte had 14 offensive boards in the second half, which allowed them to pull away from the Aggies.
While senior forward JaQuayla Berry provided 15 points and junior forward Tracy King had 14 for the Aggies, reigning MEAC Player of the Week Amber Calvin only had two points.

Late Run Lifts Virginia Past Coppin State
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- Senior Leola Spotwood scored 10 points, but Virginia closed the game with a 12-2 run lifting the Cavaliers to a 54-44 victory over Coppin State on Tuesday in John Paul Jones Arena.
After Coppin State's Larrisa Carter tied the game at 42-42 with a free throw at the 3:21 mark of the second half, Virginia responded with a 12-0 run to take control the game.
Kelsey Wolfe, who led Virginia with 14 points, scored eight points during the run including back-to-back three-pointers which gave the Cavaliers a 54-42 lead with 34 seconds to play.
It was a disappointing loss for Coppin State (3-7) who led by as many as seven points in the second half.
Simone Egwu added 11 points and 10 rebounds for Virginia, while China Crosby had seven points.
Shanice Maynard, Ashle Craig and Charlottesville native Shawntae Payne each had eight points each for Coppin State.

Lady Wildcats Stand Ground in 74-57 UNC Asheville Win
DeLAND, Fla. - The Lady Wildcats moved to 4-5 on the season with a big win over Big South Conference foe UNC Asheville (2-9) on the first day of the Hatter Classic. Boasting the lowest turnover count in over 10 years, the Lady Wildcats were able to pull away from the Bulldogs early and maintain separation on the strength of a pair of scoring career highs and four Lady Wildcats in double figures.
B-CU's 17-point win featured the efforts of eight different scorers in dispatching the Bulldogs.
Co-leading the group with Chastity René Taylor, Hollis chipped in a career-high 15 points, shot 78 percent from the floor and hit a career-best 7-of-9 free throws, helping to distribute the ball with a another career-high four assists. Taylor hit 6-of-11, including three big long range scores. Kayla Crawford also notched career highs in points (14) and steals (4), along with eight boards on the day. Rounding out the four Lady Wildcats notching double digits, Amanda Hairston shot 56 percent from the floor for 12 points of her own.
The Lady Wildcats surrendered just eight turnovers in the win, a feat not matched since before the 2002-03 season, while also hitting 13-of-15 from the charity stripe; the best free throw shooting in 16 games for B-CU.

Second Half Dooms UMES In 61-53 Loss To American
PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - UMES led at the half against American and stayed close throughout the game, but fell to the Eagles 61-53 at the Hytche Athletic Center. UMES drops to 3-5 while American goes to 5-4.
Karona Roach led the Hawks in scoring for the seventh time this year with 15 points, adding six rebounds and three assists. Shawnee Sweeney was second on the team in points with 13, adding six rebounds, while Jameelah Pickard got six points and a steal off the bench.
Leading American in points was Alexis Dobbs with 15, adding a team-best five assists. Jen Dumiak had 13 points with a pair of steals, while Geleisa George had eight points and six rebounds.

Lady Hornets Put Up Fight In Loss To So. Dakota State
Brookings, S.D. (Dec. 18, 2012) --- Delaware State erased a 16-point first half deficit before halftime, but ran out steam in a 72-57 loss to South Dakota State in the first-ever meeting between the schools at Frost Arena this evening.
The Lady Hornets trailed 21-5 after a Jackrabbit basket with 13:11 left in the first half.
Tierra Hawkins came off the bench to lead DSU with 15 points. Keyanna Tate recorded her first double-double at Delaware State, tallying 10 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. Harmon also scored 10 points for the Lady Hornets.
Hawkins has led Delaware State in scoring in six of the team's nine games. Tate has reached double figures in rebounds in two of the last three games. She's second behind Hawkins on the Lady Hornets in rebounding at 6.4 per game. Washington led DSU with five assists, giving her 11 in the last two games.
S.D. State's Ashley Eide led all players with 25 points (7-11 FGs). Leah Dietel added 16 points and 10 rebounds for the Jackrabbits.
Delaware State was 20-for-59 from the field (33.9%), including two-of-six from three-point territory.
South Dakota State had 18 field goals on 49 attempts (36.7%). The Jackrabbits were 4-of-16 from three-point range.
Free throws were a factor in the contest. SD State was 32-for-37 at the line (86.5%), while the Lady Hornets went to the line 20 times, hitting 15 (75.0%).

Lady Bears Give Mizzou A Run Before Falling, 75-50
COLUMBIA, Mo. (Dec. 18, 2012)-Morgan Eye came off the bench to score a game-high 18 points and Bri Kulas tallied a double-double by adding 16 points and a game-high 10 rebounds to lead Missouri to a 75-50 non-conference victory over Morgan State on Tuesday night at Mizzou Arena.
The Tigers improved to 10-2 on the season with the win, while extending their winning streak to six consecutive games. Morgan State (4-8) dropped its third straight and has now lost six straight non-conference games. The loss was also the sixth straight road defeat this season for the Lady Bears, who have now dropped 12 straight on the road dating back to last season.
The Lady Bears finished the game shooting 16-of-60 (26.7 percent) and hit 15-of-20 (75 percent) from the free throw line. Morgan State held a slim 20-18 advantage in points in the paint.
Mizzou shot 25-of-71 (35 percent) for the game and was 11-of-13 (84 percent) from the free throw line. The Tigers outrebounded Morgan State, 54-40 and held a 12-6 advantage in second chance points. Missouri's reserves also outscored Morgan State, 38-26.
Chyress Lockhart led Morgan State with a team-high 11 points, while Amarah Williams finished with 10 points. Saint Louis native Moneshia Davis had a team-high eight rebounds to go with two points, an assist, game-high two blocks and a steal. Davis, who has recorded 141 steals for her career, is now two steals shy of passing former Lady Bear and assistant coach Brittany Dodson (142 steals from 2008-11) for eighth at Morgan State.

SC State Defeat Coastal Carolina 78-55
ORANGEBURG, SC -South Carolina State, off to their best start in 31 years, built a 27-point halftime lead over visiting Coastal Carolina and went on to a 78-55 victory over the Chanticleers Tuesday night in a non-conference matchup at Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center.
Guard Cabriel Duren had 15 points and four assists to lead SC State. Also in double figures were guards Kourtney Williams with 12 points and Tiara Knotts with 11. Center Fannie Goodwin added nine points and was one of three Lady Bulldogs with a team-leading seven rebounds. Knotts and forward Brittany Cochran also grabbed seven boards.
Coastal Carolina also had three players in double figures, led by Kayla Cook, who came off the bench for 14 points. Alex Puckett added 13 points and a game-high 11 rebounds and Katelyn Connor chipped in 10 points for the Chanticleers, who fell to 6-4 with the loss.
The victory, the fourth in a row for the Lady Bulldogs gave SC State an 8-2 overall mark, the team's best start since the 1978-79 campaign when the Orangeburg institution was 9-1 in its first 10 games on its way to a 33-2 campaign, which included the AIAW Division II National Championship. It is also the best start at SC State for fifth-year head Coach Doug Robertson, who succeeded Tonya Mackey in 2008-2009.

Kalu, Hogue Lead Lady Tigers Past Alabama State
SAVANNAH, Ga. - In Savannah State's final home game of the first half, junior point guard Ezinne Kalu put up 22 and senior guard Erin Hogue recorded her third double-double, 12-12, of the season to lead the Lady Tigers past Alabama State 60-48, in Tiger Arena.
Kalu solidified the final score with two good free-throws, with 38 seconds to play. The Lady Tigers fared better from the floor in the second half shooting 40.9 percent. They shot at a 36.7 percent clip overall. Alabama State was led by Alford Quentori (12), and Ashley Jones (11). The Lady Tigers outrebounded the Hornets 46-41.
