 LADY PIRATES PICK UP WIN AT HOWARD

WASHINGTON, D.C. -Hampton picked up its third straight win on Sunday, beating rival Howard 3-0 (25-23, 25-21, 25-13) in Burr Gymnasium.

The Lady Pirates (16-13, 7-3 MEAC) have won all three meetings with the Lady Bison this season and matched their conference win total from last year.

Vendula Strakova led the Lady Pirates with 17 kills and 12 digs on defense for her seventh double-double of the year, while Krista Kraskura added 12 kills. Strakova hit a team-best .438 for the match, while Kraskura hit .375.

As a team, Hampton hit .295 (39 kills, 11 errors in 95 attacks).

Assata Conway led the Bison with 12 kills and three digs.

Bethune-Cookman Outlasts North Carolina A&T, 3-2

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - -Krysta Gardner matched a season-high with 21 kills as Bethune-Cookman rallied for a 3-2 (25-20,16-25,20-25,25-21,15-5) MEAC Southern Division victory over North Carolina A&T Sunday afternoon in Moore Gymnasium.

The senior from Ashburn, Va., also had a season-high 19 digs as the Lady 'Cats (5-25 overall, 5-4 MEAC) downed the Aggies (1-29, 1-7) for the second time this season in a five-set match.  Gardner added four service aces to her seventh double-double of the year.

Senior Janeen Davis, who started the match at libero but moved back to offense, registered four of her seven kills in the fifth set as B-CU scored nine unanswered points to pull away from a 4-2 lead. Davis also had 19 digs.

Jennifer Jimenez became B-CU's all-time digs leader with her first dig of the match, but registered two service aces during the fifth-set run.

Aleena McDaniel and Brooke Stamnes each had 16 kills for North Carolina A&T.

UMES Shuts Out Coppin State For 10th-Straight MEAC Victory

BALTIMORE - For the second time this season, UMES shut out in-state rival Coppin State (25-23, 25-20, 25-14), staying undefeated in MEAC play at 10-0 and 24-4 overall.

The Eagles fall to 5-5 in-conference and 10-12 this season.

In addition, UMES has won 22 straight MEAC regular season matches, continuing the longest current streak in the conference.

Williams finished with a match-high 13 kills, hitting .667 with just one error on 18 total attacks.  Ndidi Ibe had nine kills and a team-high two aces and four blocks.  Saitaua Iosia nearly had a double-double with eight kills and nine digs, while Maline Vaitai had eight kills and three blocks.

Ariel Richard led the Eagles with 11 kills and three blocks, adding four digs.  Bianca Chatman had four kills and three digs, while Kandace Thomas also had four kills, adding three blocks.

Hornets Unable To Finish Bears

BALTIMORE-Delaware State looked as though they were going to leave Hill Field House with a victory Sunday afternoon, but Morgan State had other ideas as they came from behind to defeat the Hornets, 3-2 (25-23, 18-25, 26-24, 22-25, 12-15) in MEAC play.

Sophomore Edarkis Branch finished the afternoon with a double double of 13 kills and 13 digs in addition to four block assists, two assists and one ace.

Junior Brooke Redmon also collected double-figure kills with 12 on a .409 hitting percentage.  She added five block assists for DSU.

Senior Bel Fakaosi tallied 42 assists for the Hornets in addition to 16 digs and one block assist.

Freshman Jasmine Jackson also saw double figure digs with 14.  Additionally, Jackson posted eight kills, two aces, one assist and four block assists.

Delaware State outblocked the Bears, 11-6 in the match.

Morgan State was led by Ashley Johnson and Samantha Prescott, who combined for 48 of the team's 68 kills.
