Lady Pirates Succumb To Second-Half DePaul ComebackST. THOMAS, U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS -Hampton controlled much of Friday's game against DePaul in the 2012 U.S. Virgin Islands Paradise Jam, but the Blue Demons came back to take a 68-67 win.
Senior forward Keiara Avant led Hampton with 21 points and 12 rebounds for her fifth double-double of the season, while redshirt-freshman forward Brielle Ward also had a double-double - the first of her career - with 12 points and a team-high 14 rebounds.
Junior guard Nicole Hamilton added 12 points.
The Lady Pirates (4-2) led by as many as 13 in the second half, and as late as the 9:38 mark, Hampton held a 59-46 lead after Hamilton sank a pair of free throws. DePaul answered to cut the lead to five, 61-56, with 6:50 to play on a 3-pointer from Brittany Hrynko.
Junior forward Alyssa Bennett hit a jumper with 4:57 to play to give Hampton a 65-58 lead, but DePaul used a 6-0 run to cut that lead to 65-64 with 3:08 to play, before the Lady Pirates regained a 67-64 edge at the 2:26 mark.
Chanise Jenkins tied the game at 67-67 with 1:13 left to play with a layup, before Anna Martin hit one of two free throws with three seconds left to give DePaul the final lead.
Hampton shot 41.4 percent (29-for-70) from the floor on the day, but made just one of 11 3-pointers and went 8-for-13 (61.5 percent) from the free throw line.
DePaul (5-1) hit 37.9 percent (25-for-66) of its shots from the floor, while also going 9-for-32 (28.1 percent) from behind the arc. The Blue Demons out-rebounded the Lady Pirates 42-39 and got 19 points off the bench.
Jasmine Penny led DePaul with 15 points.

Morgan State Defeats Columbia, 60-51
BALTIMORE, Md. (Nov. 23, 2012)-Tracey Carrington scored a game-high 16 points on 7-of-9 shooting, as Morgan State defeated visiting Columbia, 60-51 in a non-conference game on Friday afternoon at Hill Field House. The win was the Lady Bears' second straight in as many games during this current four-game homestand, while extending their all-time series lead to 2-0 over Columbia.
Morgan State senior Bianca Jarrett, who only played in the second half, came off the bench to score 12 points in 14 minutes, including six straight points at one point for the Lady Bears. Whitney Southerland added eight points in a reserve role.
Columbia (1-4) was led by Brittany Simmons, who scored 11 points and Baily Ott, who added 10 points. Ott also had a game-high five steals and hauled in seven rebounds. Courtney Bradford pulled down a game-high eight rebounds.
Morgan State (3-2) forced 22 turnovers, while also committing 22 of their own. The Lady Bears also recorded 15 steals with Moneshia Davis recording a team-high three. Morgan State held a 39-36 rebounding advantage with Amarah Williams, Davis and Carrington all grabbing a team-high seven rebounds.

Southern Miss Downs Savannah State
HATTIESBURG, Miss. - In the opening game of the 24th annual University of Southern Mississippi Thanksgiving Classic, the Savannah State women's basketball squad fell to Southern Miss 38-51 in Reed Green Coliseum in front of a crowd of 783, Friday evening.
The Lady Tigers shot at a 27.7 percent clip from the floor, and 66.7 percent from the charity strip. Ezinne Kalu led the team with nine points, going 3-for-7 from the field and 2-for-4 from the free-throw line. Jasmine Kirkland followed Kalu, going 3-for-7 from the field with seven points. Erin Hogue led in rebounds with 16.
Jerontay Clemons led the Lady Eagles with 16 points, hitting 7 of 14 attempts. Tiarra followed with 15, and Tanecka Carey added 10 points. Southern Miss shot 35 percent from the floor.

Howard's Second-Half Resurrection Provides Leverage For 60-38 Victory
WASHINGTON, D.C. -In their first home game of the season, Howard revived its offense after a fruitless first-half performance to secure a 60-38 win against the Lady Bulldogs of Bowie State in Burr Gymnasium on Friday, Nov. 23.
Senior Saadia Doyle, who tallied six points on the first half of action, finished with a season-best 29 points, while Cheyenne Curley-Payne gathered 11 points and redshirt-junior Jerelle Gorham attained 10 points. Senior Nicole Deterville amassed a season-high 10 points, as Doyle collected eight boards. Curley-Payne circulated nine assists and two steals.
Collectively, the Lady Bison finished at 64 percent from the charity stripe, 35 percent from the field and 18 percent from long range.

Lady Rattlers Rallies Past Kent State, 70-56
ATLANTA, Ga.-Florida A&M picked up their second win of the season as they defeated Kent State, 70-56 in the Georgia State Invitational, Friday afternoon at the GSU Arena.
FAMU (2-1) had a pair of Lady Rattlers to score twenty-plus points as Kimberly Sparkman scored a game high 29 points, followed by a Jasmine Grice with 25 points. Keturah Martin and Grice led the Lady Rattlers on the board with six each.
KSU (0-4) was paced by Melanee Stubbs with 15 points, followed by Leslie Schaffer with seven. Diamon Beckford led the Lady Panthers on the boards with eight.
