Lady Pirates Trounce Chicago State To Open Season 4-0HAMPTON, Va. -Hampton upended Chicago State 87-35 on Sunday afternoon at the HU Convocation Center to remain perfect to open the 2012-13 season.
This is the program's first 4-0 start in Div. I history.
Senior forward Keiara Avant led the Lady Pirates with 24 points and 11 rebounds for her fourth double-double to open the season - and her ninth over the last 13 games dating back to last season. Sophomore guard Kenia Cole poured in a career-high 16 points behind four 3-pointers.
Junior guard Nicole Hamilton added 13 points and a career-high 12 assists. Redshirt-freshman forward Brielle Ward grabbed a career- and team-high 15 rebounds.
The Lady Pirates had 20 second-chance points.
Chicago State shot just 26.5 percent (9-for-34) from the floor and tuned the ball over 28 times - resulting in 36 Hampton points.
Jasmine Collins and Jackie Jones led the Cougars with seven points each.

Lady Hornets Fall To Fordham 69-38
Brooklyn, N.Y. (Nov. 18, 2012) --- Marah Strickland led three Fordham players in double figures with 16 points in the Rams' 69-38 wire-to-wire win over Delaware State at Rose Hill Gym this afternoon.
Fordham improved to 3-0 this season, while the Lady Hornets fell to 0-3.
Tierra Hawkins was the leading scorer for Delaware State with 16 points to tie for game-high honors. Hawkins, averaging 20.3 points per game, has reached double figures in scoring in each of DSU's three contests this season. She has led DSU in scoring in each game.
N'Kayah Kersey was the only other Delaware State player in double figures with 11 points.
Keyanna Tate and Kianna D'Oliveira shared team high honors with seven rebounds each.
Fordham hit 28 of its 62 shots from the floor (45.2%), including 6-of-13 from beyond the arc.

Davis's Shot Helps Morgan State Hold Off Stony Brook In Overtime, 66-63
BALTIMORE, Md.-Morgan State senior Moneshia Davis knocked down what proved to be a game winning three-pointer from the left corner with 10.1 seconds remaining to help the Lady Bears escape with a 66-63 non-conference overtime win over Stony Brook on Sunday afternoon at Hill Field House.
The victory was the Lady Bears' first over Stony Brook in four meetings and avenged last season's 65-48 loss to the Seawolves.
Davis's basket helped Morgan State (2-2) improve to 2-0 at home and prevented what would have been a disappointing loss for Morgan State, which led by as much as 15 points and never trailed in regulation.
Davis finished the evening tied with fellow senior Bianca Jarrett for game-high honors with 19 points. Davis, who shot 6-for-10, including 5-of-8 from three-point range also added a game-high five steals, while Jarrett, who also knocked down five three-pointers, finished with a game-high eight assists. Junior Whitney Southerland came off the bench to record 12 points.
Stony Brook (1-2) was led by Jessica Previlon, who came off the bench and tallied a double-double with a team-high 17 points and a game-high 13 rebounds. Natalie Myers and Brittany Snow added 13 and 12 points, respectively.
