UMES Wins 2012 MEAC Volleyball Championship

Maryland Eastern Shore defeated Florida A&M, 3-2, to win the 2012 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) volleyball championship Sunday afternoon at the Physical Education Complex on the campus of Coppin State University. The win was the second consecutive MEAC volleyball crown for the Lady Hawks.

UMES was led by Saitaua Iosia with 25 kills and 11 digs in the set and was named the Tournament Outstanding Performer. Victoria Williams and Ndidi Ibe added 15 and 12 kills, respectively. The Lady Hawks offense ran through Jessica Vicic who had 57 assists.

Lady Hawk Head Coach Don Metil was named the Outstanding Coach for the second time in his career.

The Lady Rattlers were led by Yeisha Arcia and Maria Ceccarelli who totaled 16 kills apiece. Karol Marquez led FAMU in digs with 15.

Maryland Eastern Shore will move onto the NCAA Tournament in December. The Lady Hawks will find out their seeding and their opponent on Sunday, November 25th at 4 p.m. during the NCAA selection show, which will air on ESPNU.
