Volleyball Sweeps Howard, Still Unbeaten In MEAC Play
HAMPTON, Va. -Hampton swept rival Howard 3-0 (25-15, 25-14, 25-19) in Holland Hall on Friday evening, remaining undefeated in MEAC play.
The Lady Pirates (12-10, 3-0 MEAC) have won four straight matches and five of their last six. Hampton has also won eight straight matches against Howard.
Vendula Strakova led Hampton with seven kills, while Krista Kraskura and Ioana Kalfinova each added five kills. Kalfinova was error-free in 10 attacks, hitting a team-best .500. The Lady Pirates hit .178, recording 26 kills and 13 errors in 73 attacks.
Junior Bibiany Fonseca had 18 of the Lady Pirates' 23 assists and a team-high three service aces. Strakova added two aces.
Assata Conway led Howard with six kills.

Del State Unable To Complete Comeback; Falter To Morgan State
DOVER, Del. - After giving up the first two sets, the Delaware State rallied to take the third before failing to complete a comeback in a 1-3 (22-25, 21-25, 25-23, 23-25) loss to previously winless Morgan State Friday evening in MEAC play at Memorial Hall.
Sophomore Edarkis Branch collected a career-high 15 kills with a .286 attack percentage to lead the way for the Hornets (4-11, 1-2 MEAC). MSU's Arianna Hayden tallied a match-high 18 kills in the Bears' win.

SC State Defeats Savannah State, 3-1, in Women's Volleyball
Savannah, Ga.- SC State defeated Savannah State, 3-1, (25-20, 22-25, 25-21, 25-18), in a MEAC matchup.
Junior outside hitter Desire Waller continued to pace SC State as she put down 18 kills with nine digs. Waller also served a game-high seven aces including four of five straight points in Set Three. Sophomore Maya Bell was the only other Lady Bulldog player to record double-digit kills with 10. Freshman Melanie Williams put up a game-high 37 set assists with nine digs while the lone senior E. Paige Webb picked up 10 digs in the win.
Savannah State was led by Keandra Lewis and Jasmine Waite with 10 kills each. The Lady Tigers had three players to record double-digit digs as Lewis had 17, Kaneisha Hamilton had 11 and Bryana Gadis had 10. Two Savannah State players put up double-digit set assists as Ashlee Butler had 17 and Asiha Williams contributed 12 in the loss.
Aggies Fall in Five to Bethune-Cookman
GREENSBORO-North Carolina A&T lost their second straight five-set match on Friday night at Moore Gym to Bethune-Cookman.
The Aggies (0-21, 0-2) fell to the Wildcats (2-18, 2-1) by 25-17, 17-25, 19-25, 25-22, 11-15 in another exciting MEAC match. The Aggies are now 0-4 in five-set matches this season.
The Aggies were led offensively on Friday night by freshmen Brooke Stamnes and Aleena McDaniel, who had 12 and 11 kills, respectively. McDaniel posted her second double-double of the year with 15 digs along with her 11 kills. Freshman libero Ashley Johnson led the team with 18 digs on the night. Sophomore Aprill McRae had five blocks in the match.

UMES Crushes Coppin State In Three Sets In Home Opener
PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - Dominant hitting, serving and blocking fueled UMES to a shut out victory over Coppin State (25-7, 25-16, 25-20) as the Hawks improve to 3-0 in the MEAC and 17-4 overall. The Eagles fall to 2-2 in-conference and 6-9 overall.
UMES won its 25th-straight victory at the Hytche to increase its longest current home-winning streak in Division I. In addition, Don Metil's UMES teams improve to 12-0 against Coppin State in Metil's tenure.
The Hawks combined for 10.5 blocks in three sets, holding the Eagles to a -.025 hitting percentage. UMES hit .370 as a team, earning 37 kills with just 10 attack errors, adding 10 service aces.
Ndidi Ibe led the Hawks with a .643 hitting percentage, tallying 10 kills, with just one attack error, and six blocks, each team highs. Saitaua Iosia also finished with 10 kills, adding service five aces. Maline Vaitai had six kills with five blocks and an ace, while Williams had five kills and four blocks. Jessica Vicic nearly had a double double with 30 assists and eight digs.
Kendra Ireigbe and Cindy Okpegbue each earned five kills to lead Coppin State, with the former earned a block. Ariel Richard, who came into the match with 171 kills, hit -.412 with just one kill and eight attack errors.
