Norfolk State junior Nathnael Meseret and Bethune-Cookman senior
Kadian Dunkley were selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic
Conference’s (MEAC) Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Athletes of the
Week, the conference announced on Wednesday.
Meseret (Jr., Dumfries, Va.) crossed the finish line first overall with a time of 25:26.00 on the Great American HBCU Challenge
8K course, leading the Spartans to a first place finish out of 15 teams.
Dunkley
(Sr.,
Brooklyn, N.Y.) finished with a time of 18:39.40 for a first place
finish at the Great American HBCU Challenge. Dunkley’s time guided the
Wildcats to a ninth place finish out of 16 teams and is the top
MEAC time on a 5K course this season.
Other Top Performers:
Xavier Fraction (Hampton)
ran the Great American HBCU Challenge 8K course in 27:59.70 to finish 15th overall. Fraction’s time helped the Pirates finish fourth out of 15 teams.
Sherril McFarlane (SCSU)
finished
fifth overall and led the Lady Bulldogs to a third place finish out of
16 teams at the Great American HBCU Challenge 5K course with a time of
19:27.40.
Devyn Thompson (Hampton)
led the Pirates to a first place finish out of 16 teams on the Great American HBCU Challenge 5K course, finishing 6th overall with a time of 19:31.50.
Seymour Walter (SCSU)
ran a time of 27:31.00 on the Great American HBCU Challenge 8K course to finish 11th overall.
