Florida A&M Improves to 7-0 in MEAC Play Win With Over Savannah State
Florida A&M (9-9, 7-0 MEAC) drew their regular season record to even, while remaining unblemished in MEAC play, as they defeated the Savannah State Tigers (0-28, 0-7 MEAC) 3-0 today at the Wilcox-Wiley Gymnasium.
Yeisha Arcia paced the Lady Rattlers with 13 kills. Maria Ceccarelli and Katherine Huanec rounded out the trio of Lady Rattlers, scoring 11 and 10 kills respectively. Diana Gonzales continued her torrid pace, dishing out 34 in the match.
Defensively, the Lady Rattlers used a solid team effort to counter attacks by the Lady Tigers with digs. Karol Marquez led the squad with eight digs, while Arcia sored seven and Ceccarelli added six. SC State Completes Season Sweep of Bethune-Cookman
Orangeburg, SC-SC State defeated Bethune-Cookman, 3-0, (25-14, 25-20, 25-15), in a MEAC match-up. With the win, the Lady Bulldogs completes the season sweep of the Lady Wildcats.
SC State (7-13, 4-3 MEAC) dominated the match, holding Bethune-Cookman (4-24, 4-3 MEAC) to just 22 kills for a hitting percentage of .022 in the match. The Lady Bulldogs finished the match with 39 kills a hitting percentage of .278 with seven team blocks.
Junior Desire Waller recorded her third straight double-digit kill outing with 16 kills on the day. SC State offense was well balanced as sophomore Maya Bell had eight kills while junior Alyse Lewis and sophomore Dorian Corbett had four kills each. Freshman Melanie Williams put up a game-high 32 assists and senior E. Paige Webb picked up a game-high 17 digs in the victory.
Bethune-Cookman was led by Krysta Gardner with eight kills. Monica Lowe had 19 set assists and Jennifer Jimenez had eight digs in the loss.

Hornets Outlast Howard, 3-2, To Snap Losing Streak
DOVER, Del. - Junior Jessica Croucher collected her second straight double-double Sunday afternoon as the Delaware State was pushed the max in a 3-2 (22-25, 25-15, 25-13, 27-25, 16-14) victory over Howard at Memorial Hall to snap an eight-game losing streak.
Croucher posted 17 kills with a .406 hitting percentage (17/4/32) and 18 digs in the Hornets' win. She also tallied a team-high three aces.
Fellow junior Brooke Redmon and senior Laisha Davis added 11 and 10 kills, respectively. Redmon posted a .450 hitting percentage while Davis led the match at a .471 clip.
Freshman Jasmine Jackson also recorded double-figure digs with 12. Senior Bel Fakaosi marked a match-high 46 assists.
The win was Delaware State's first since Sept. 28 when the Hornets defeated the Lady Bison, 3-0, in Washington, D.C. With the victory, DSU improves to 5-17 overall and 2-7 in the MEAC. Howard falls to 0-20 and 0-8 in conference play on the year.
