Florida A&M's women's cross country team won the 2012 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Cross Country Championship title Saturday morning at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore in Princess Anne, Md.
The Florida A&M Lady Rattlers scored 63 points to win their fifth overall MEAC title and first since the 2001 season. The Lady Pirates averaged a time of 19:36.07 on the 5K course.
Maryland Eastern Shore freshman Petra Kubešová won the women's race with a time of 17:48.20 to earn Outstanding Performer honors. As a team the Lady Hawks finished in fifth place.
Florida A&M head coach Darlene Moore earned Women's Cross Country Outstanding Coach accolades for the first time in her career.
Second place honors went to Hampton. The Lady Pirates scored 65 total points. Delaware State (138), South Carolina State (175) and Maryland Eastern Shore (178) completed the top five finishes.
