Florida A&M men's cross country team won the 2012 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Cross Country Championship title Saturday morning at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore in Princess Anne, Md.
The Rattlers of Florida A&M won their first title since the 1988 season and third overall. Five student-athletes finished among the top 15 for FAMU to earn All-MEAC honors. The Rattlers scored 29 total points and as a team averaged 25:33.27on the 8K course.
Elias Chesire of Florida A&M won the men's race to earn Outstanding Performer accolades. Chesire ran a time of 24:54.96to pace the Rattlers.
Wayne Angel of Florida A&M earned Men's Cross Country Outstanding Coaching honors for the first time in his career.
In team results, Norfolk State totaled 49 points for a second place finish. Howard (53), North Carolina A&T (174) and Savannah State (179) rounded out the top five in the men's team standings.
