MEAC ANNOUNCES WEEKLY CROSS COUNTRY HONORS

Florida A&M sophomore Elias Chesire and Maryland Eastern Shore freshman Petra Kubesova were selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference’s (MEAC) Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Athletes of the Week, the conference announced on Wednesday.

Chesire (So., Eldoret, Kenya) ran a personal best time of 24:34.00 at the Division I Pre-Nationals 8K course at the University of Louisville, crossing the line 10th overall. His effort led the Rattlers to a fifth place tie out of 21 teams.

Kubesova (Fr., Prague, Czech Republic.) finished second at the William and Mary Tribe Open. Her time of 21:50.98 set a school record and paced the Lady Hawks on a 6K course.

Other Top Performers:

Amber Brooks (NCCU) won the NCCU Eagles Cross Country Classic 5K in 20:46.05, aiding the Lady Eagles to a first place finish.

Irene Cherubet (CSU) finished first at the Delaware State Hornet Invitational in 19:32.59.

Simone Durden (FAMU) ran a 23:23.64 on the UCF Black and Gold Invitational 6K course to post a 20th place finish.

Xavier Fraction (Hampton) was among the top 50 finishers at the Christopher Newport Invitational in 27:55.55.

Elisha Metto (Howard) crossed the finish line first overall at the Blue and Gold Cross Country meet finishing in 25:06.70.

Terrell Oliver (DSU) completed the Delaware State Hornet Invitational 5K course in 16:15.33 to finish in second place.

Ashley Robinson (DSU) was second at the Delaware State Hornet Invitational, completing the course in 20:24.74.

Andre Thomas (CSU) captured the individual title at the Delaware State Hornet Invitational in 16:14.94 on the 5K course.

Devyn Thompson (Hampton) ran the William and Mary Tribe Open 6K course in 23:51.06 for a 28th place finish.

Rachel Webb (NSU) placed 35th overall in 24:44.04 at the Christopher Newport Invitational.
