Maryland Eastern Shore sophomore Saitaua Iosia
was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference’s (MEAC) Volleyball
Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday. North Carolina
Central’s
Christine Anthony earned Rookie of the Week accolades.
Iosia
(5-10,
So., OH/RS, Long Beach, Calif.) averaged 17.5 kills and 7.5 digs to
lead the Lady Hawks in two conference victories last week. Against
Hampton, Iosia totaled 18 kills, five digs, six aces and two blocks.
In a 3-1 win over Norfolk State, she recorded a double-double of 17
kills and 10 digs along with four aces and three assists.
Anthony (5-10,
Sr., OH, Wilemstad, Curacao) combined for 25 kills and 12 digs to lead
the Eagles to a 2-0 mark in conference play. In a win over
Savannah State, Anthony recorded a .583 hitting percentage and added
two aces and two blocks. She followed with 16 kills, five digs, two aces
and two blocks against Savannah State.

Yeisha Arcia (FAMU)
hit .407 from the floor with 15 kills on 27 attacks in a win over Bethune-Cookman.
Charlotte Armstead (NSU)
combined for 30 kills, five digs and three blocks last week for the Spartans.
Pamela Barrera (FAMU) totaled 15 kills on 18 attacks for a .722 hitting percentage in a conference win against Bethune-Cookman.
Edarkis Branch (DSU) recorded a double-double of 13 kills and 10 digs in a four set loss to Norfolk State.
Andrea Evans (NCAT) led the Aggies with a .354 hitting percentage with 24 kills, eight digs and five aces.
Krysta Gardner (B-CU) totaled 28 kills, 20 digs, three aces and two blocks in two matches.
Saitaua Iosia (UMES) combined for 35 kills, 15 digs, 10 aces and three assists in two victories last week.
Jessica Johnson (NSU) totaled 24 kills and 16 digs in three matches.
Jourdan Lemons (MSU) notched a team-high 21 assists and eight digs in a three-set win against Howard.
Monica Lowe (B-CU) averaged 25.5 assists and five digs per match for the Lady Wildcats
Samantha Prescott (MSU) recorded a team-high 10 digs in a win against Howard.
Ariel Richard (CSU) led the Eagles to a 3-0 victory against Howard with 13 kills, four blocks and three aces.
Stephanie Shultis (Howard) averaged 23.5 assists per match for the Lady Bison.
Brooke Stamnes (NCAT)
posted back-to-back double-doubles against Radford and South Carolina State last week.
Vendula Strakova (Hampton) totaled 28 kills, nine digs and seven aces to aid the Lady Pirates to a 1-1 mark.
Melanie Williams (SCSU) posted 42 assists in a conference win against North Carolina A&T.
Desire Waller (SCSU)
averaged 12.3 kills and 6.3 digs in three matches for the Lady Bulldogs.
