SC State Goes 1-1 Over the Weekend
Orangeburg, S.C.- SC State went 1-1 in two MEAC matches over the weekend. On Friday (Oct. 12) the Lady Bulldogs defeated North Carolina A&T, 3-1, (25-21, 25-14, 19-25, 25-20), and on Sunday, (Oct. 14) SC State fell to North Carolina Central, 0-3, (13-25, 18-25, 16-25).
In the game versus North Carolina A&T, junior Desire Waller was the only player to record double-digit kills as she put down a game-high 21. Waller recorded a double-double picking up 10 digs with coupled with two block assists in the match. Freshman Melanie Williams put up a game-high 42 set assists and the lone senior E. Paige Webb picked up double-digit digs with 15.
Brooke Stamnes recorded a double-double 10 kills-10 digs and Te'Borah Hawkins put down 10 kills for NC A&T. Ashley Johnson had 13 digs to lead the Lady Aggies defensively in the loss.
In Sunday's contest versus North Carolina Central, SC State could not get any offense as they hit a season low .098 for the game. The Lady Bulldogs had no players in double-digit kills as Waller and freshman Shandice Sluch recorded six kills each to lead the way for SC State. Williams and Webb recorded 21 set assists and 14 digs, respectively in the loss.

Hampton Too Much For Hornets In MEAC Match
Dover, Del. (Oct. 14, 2012) --- Delaware State hung tough with MEAC North power Hampton in the opening game, but the Pirates dominated the last two games in a 3-0 victory over the Hornets in Memorial Hall this afternoon.
The scores were 25-22, 25-11 and 25-14.
Edarkis Branch led the Hornets with eight kills, posted a .389 attack percentage in the match (8 kills/1 error/18 attempts). Jessica Croucher had five kills, while Laisha Davis and Brooke Redmon tallied four each.
Hampton's Vendula Strakova had a game-high 11 kills, while Bibi Fonseca led all players with 31 assists.
Delaware State posted a .139 attack percentage (25/15/72) for the match while Hampton had a .314 average (39/12/86).
The Hornets dropped their fifth straight match to fall to 4-14 overall and 1-5 in the MEAC North, while Hampton won for the fifth time in its last six matches to improve to 13-11 and 4-1.

Aggies Top Savannah State for First Win of Season
SAVANNAH, Ga. - North Carolina A&T h won their first match of the season with a three-set win (25-18, 25-20, 25-14) over Savannah State Sunday afternoon at Wilcox-Wiley Gym.
For the second straight match, freshman Te'Borah Hawkins-Hollingsworth recorded a season high as she finished with 11 kills. It was also her second straight match with double-figure kills. Fellow freshman Brooke Stamnes finished with seven kills and five service aces, as the Aggies recorded 18 service aces in the match. It was one off of their season high.
For the seventh time this season, the Aggies posted a hitting percentage better than .300. It occurred in the third set, where the Aggies made just four attack errors on 29 attempts. Sophomore Aprill McRae led the way as she slammed down five kills in seven attempts with only one attack error. Hawkins-Hollingsworth and freshman Aleena McDaniel combined for five kills and no attack errors in the third as well.

NSU Puts Scare into UMES in 3-1 Loss
PRINCESS ANNE, Md. -Norfolk State gave MEAC-leading UMES a scare on Sunday afternoon, but the Hawks ultimately prevailed in a 3-1 win over the Spartans at the WP Hytche Athletic Center.
UMES won its 17th straight regular season conference match, but it did not come easily. The Hawks won the first set, 25-21, before the Spartans took the second, 26-24. UMES had to rally late in the third set to win, 26-24, before finally taking the match with a win in the fourth set, 25-21.
The Hawks (19-4, 5-0 MEAC) committed 11 service errors and 27 attack errors, hitting .212 for the match. The Spartans (6-18, 3-2) gave away just as many points, attacking at a .168 clip with 24 attack errors and 12 service errors.
Saitaua Iosia led all players with 17 kills, 10 digs and four service aces for UMES, while Maline Vaitai added 13 kills, seven digs and four blocks. Jessica Vicic posted a double-double of 47 assists and 10 digs.
UMES had a 12-10 advantage in blocks, with Ibe adding six.
