ATLANTA -- Chinatsu Kajiwara won in both singles and doubles, and Shereen Peterson-Paul won a flight for the second consecutive year as Bethune-Cookman claimed the women's team title at the HBCU Nationals Saturday at the Clayton County Tennis Center.
Kajiwara won the "A" flight with a 6-1,6-4 victory over Delaware State's Ksenia Kozlova then combined with Gaby Chinchilla for a 8-2 victory over Prairie View's Brittany Harrell/Lerato Ndlovu in the "A" Doubles.
Peterson-Paul, a doubles winner in 2011, took the "B" singles flight after Southern's Lois Alexis retired in the third set with an injury with Peterson-Paul leading 6-7, 6-3, 5-4.
Ancia Ifill, Laura Rodriguez and Maria Dimitova each won two matches for B-CU.
Delaware State finished second, and Florida A&M was third.
In the men's competition, B-CU men came in second place to Florida A&M in a competition decided by the final match.
Moritz Pronath won the "C" flight with a 6-3, 1-6, 6-0 victory over Florida A&M's Temuera Asafu-Adjaye.
B-CU had two doubles teams - Juan Varon/Seve Day and Gilbert Kibet/Santiago Lobelo - advance to flight finals.
Lobelo, Leo Lima and Diego Garavito each won two matches for B-CU, which went undefeated the first day.
