Aggies Beat Carver in OT

GREENSBORO - the Aggies beat the Cougars 85-76 in overtime. The win snapped an eight-game losing streak for N.C. A&T. All eight losses came during an eight-game road trip.

The Aggies were just 4-for-19 from 3-point range, surrendered 19 offensive rebounds to the Cougars and were hit with two technical fouls.

The Aggies improved to 5-11 behind 21 points from senior guard Nic Simpson, who finished 11-for-13 from the free throw line. Witter posted his second career double-double as he ended the night with 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Brown led the Cougars with 15 points. The Cougars turned the ball over just three times in the first half and led 37-29. But the Aggies were able to win a game after trailing at halftime for the first time this season.

Morgan State opens New Year with 87-74 loss at San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - Perris Blackwell and Angelo Caloiaro scored 19 points apiece and combined to shoot 13 for 20 from the field, leading San Francisco to an 87-74 win over Morgan State on Tuesday night at War Memorial Gym.
 
Ameer Ali scored a career-high 21 points in 26 minutes for the Bears, who have lost their second consecutive game and suffered their eighth loss on the road.
  
Jackson had nine points (3-15 FG) for the Bears after being held scoreless in the first half. Aric Brooks scored a season-high 10 points, while Kevin Thompson chipped in eight points and six rebounds.
 
USF (10-6, 0-2 WCC) finished the game by scoring 36 points in the paint, compared to 16 by the Bears.
 
The Dons connected on 9 of 20 (45 percent) 3-pointers and shot 53.8 percent (28-52) from the floor, while the Bears shot 45.9 percent (28-61) and was 9 of 29 (31 percent) beyond the arc.
  
Larry Bastfield led the Bears with 11 points at the break.

Season Low in First Half Points Troubles Hawks At Lehigh

Bethlehem, Pa. -- The University of Maryland Eastern Shore men's basketball team gave up 45 first half points, allowing Lehigh University to score 9-of-16 shooting from behind the three-point line, and would fall to the Patriot League leaders 82-55 Tuesday.

UMES started with a different line-up against Lehigh, but little seemed to make a difference for UMES. The Hawks 16 first half points marked its lowest total points scored in a half all season.

Akeem Anderson, making his first start of the season, posted eight points on 4-of-5 (.800) shooting from the floor. He recorded his first double digit performance with 12 points and added five rebounds for the Hawks in his 27 minutes.

Woods was the only Hawk to hit a three-pointer. He finished second in points (11) while giving the Hawks a second half offensive spark that came around the time Woods scored the three-pointer.

Spencer finished with nine points and a game-high 10 rebounds. Spencer has shown an ability to grab rebounds for the Hawks and in just his third game he leads UMES with an average of 9.7 rebounds per game.

Gamecocks Hold Off Bulldogs 79-51

COLUMBIA, SC- Freshman forward Luka Radovic tossed in a season-high 15 point and grabbed four rebounds, but it wasn't enough as South Carolina cruised to a 79-51 victory over SC State Tuesday at the Colonial Life Center.

SC State falls to 4-10 overall, 0-1 in the MEAC, while South Carolina improves to 8-6 on the season.

South Carolina was led by Malik Cooke and Damontre Harris who 11 each in the victory. The Gamecocks shot 53.8 % from behind the 3-point line connecting on 11-of-23 on the night.
South Carolina held on to a 79-51 victory over South Carolina State. Freshman Devin Joint grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds, he also scored eight points in the loss.
