Bethune-Cookman Finishes Ninth at Big Red Invitational

LINCOLN, Neb. - The Lady Wildcats took on a very challenging field for the first tournament of the 2011-12 second semester, opening at the Big Red Invitational. Taking on a field with seven top-20 teams, B-CU finished with a record of 7-5 on the weekend, earning ninth place.

The Lady Wildcats made outstanding progress individually, which translated to an all-around team improvement, with a season high team average of 180.3, playing at 11.96 pins over the team season mark, leading to a ninth place finish against the tough field. The tournament average was the highest for B-CU this season.

Though the entire squad carried very high averages in each game, individually, the team was led by Melonie Mitchell, who finished with an average of 193 pins per game and high game of 227, just ahead of Staci Hilliard with 188 pins per game and high game of 209.
