MEAC Announces Women's Basketball Honors

 

Hampton guard Nicole Hamilton was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday. North Carolina A&T's Tiffanie Adair earned Rookie of the Week honors, while Savannah State's Alisha Nelson earned Defensive Player of the Week accolades.

Hamilton (Guard, 5-8, So., Hampton, Va.) scored a season-high 18 points, including a perfect 5-of-5 from behind the 3-point arc in a 76-50 win against Coppin State. The guard shot 75-percent from the floor (6-of-8) and 50-percent (1-of-2) from the free-throw line. She added two rebounds, two assists and one steal in 17 minutes of action.  

Adair (Forward, 5-11, So., St. Louis, Mo.) totaled 20 points, 12 rebounds, two assists and one steal in two games for the Lady Aggies. Against Howard, Adair scored a career-high 12 points and pulled down six rebounds, while shooting 5-of-7 from the floor.


Nelson (Forward, 6-2, Sr., Phoenix City, Arizona.) grabbed 16 rebounds, recorded nine blocks and one steal in to aid the Lady Tigers to a 1-1 mark last week. Against Florida A&M, Nelson tallied 12 rebounds, and three blocks.

Other Top Performers:

Paris Alston (SCSU) totaled 24 points and 12 rebounds in two games last week.

Alyssa Bennett (Hampton) recorded a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds in a win over Coppin State.

JaQuayla Berry (NCAT) averaged 12.5 points and 7.5 rebounds in two games last week.

Tasia Bristow (DSU) tallied 15 points and four rebounds in a loss to Maryland Eastern Shore.

Amber Cook (UMES) scored a career-high 21 points in a win over Delaware State.

Cheyenne Curley- Payne (Howard) dished out 21 assists, along with nine points and eight rebounds in two Lady Bison victories.

Kianna D'Oliveira (DSU) was two rebounds shy of a double-double with 10 points and eight rebounds against Maryland Eastern Shore.


Saadia Doyle (Howard) averaged 21.5 points and 6.5 rebounds to aid the Lady Bison to a 2-0 mark last week.

Cabriel Duren (SCSU) scored 16 points, three rebounds, two assists and two blocks in a win over Bethune-Cookman.

Jasmine Elum (B-CU) averaged 17.0 points and six rebounds in two Lady Wildcat games.

Rachel Gordon (NSU) tallied 18 points, 24 rebounds and three steals to aid the Spartans to a 1-1 mark last week.

Ezinne Kalu (SSU) averaged 26 points and six rebounds to aid the Lady Tigers to a 1-1 mark last week.


Tracy King (NCAT) scored back-to-back double digit performances with 17 points against Florida A&M and 10 points against Howard.

Whitney King (B-CU) scored 12 points and four rebounds in 18 minutes of action for the Lady Wildcats.

Quineshia Leonard (NSU) recorded a double-double of 13 points and 12 rebounds in a win over Morgan State.

Whitney Long (NSU) totaled 30 points, seven rebounds and three assists in two Spartan games.

Omarar Parker (MSU) scored a career and game high 26 points along with eight rebounds in a non-conference win against Columbia.

Crystal Whittington (CSU) recorded a double-double of 12 points and 12 rebounds in a win over South Carolina State.

Amarah Williams (MSU) averaged 9.3 points and 5.6 rebounds in three games for the Lady Bears.
