MEAC Announces Volleyball Weekly Honors

South Carolina State sophomore Desiree Waller was named the MEAC Volleyball Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday. Maryland Eastern Shore's Saitaua Iosia earned Rookie of the Week accolades.

Waller (6-1, So., MH, Houston, Texas) led her team to a 4-0 mark last week as hosts of the South Carolina State Spikefest. In a win over Claflin, Waller recorded a double-double of 10 kills and 10 digs. For the week, she totaled 43 kills, 14 blocks, 11 aces and 26 digs and was named to the All-Tournament team.  

Iosia (5-10, Fr., OH, Long Beach, Calif.) earned All-Tournament honors at the USF Invitational last weekend. The outside hitter totaled 55 kills, 35 digs and five blocks in four matches. In a win over South Florida, Iosia recorded a double-double of 13 kills and 11 digs.

Other Top Performers:

Charlotte Armstead (NSU) posted 11 kills and added three digs in a defensive effort against Tennessee State.

Jessica Coucher (DSU) totaled 32 kills and 17 digs and earned All-Tournament honors at the Cornell Tournament.

Erin Cox (MSU) averaged 6.33 kills and 10 digs in three matches for the Lady Bears.

Janeen Davis (B-CU) recorded a double-double of 19 kills and 13 digs in a non-conference win against Maryland Eastern Shore.

Simone Durham
(MSU) hit 80-percent from the floor (4-of-5) in two sets played against Towson.

Tosin Elebute (How) totaled 39 kills and 27 digs in four matches for the Lady Bison. 

Bryana Gadis
(SSU) posted six kills on 14 attempts in a loss to Southern Illinois- Edwardsville.

Theresa Schieder (DSU) hit 60-percent from the field (3-of-5) against Cornell.
