Bethune-Cookman Falls to Stetson, 3-0

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Kaylee Ream had 14 kills and Kaley Melville double-double with 11 kills and 19 kigs as Stetson defeated Bethune-Cookman 3-0 (25-22,25-23,29-27) Tuesday night in Moore Gymnasium.

Kelli Carneal posted 29 assists as the Hatters (3-9) defeated the Lady Wildcats (6-9) for the second time this season this season and the fifth consecutive time dating back to 2009.

Janeen Davis had a match-high 15 kills for B-CU, while Krysta Gardner finished with 10 kills and nine digs.

NSU Tames A&T After Early Sloppiness, 3-1

NORFOLK, Va. -Norfolk State started off slow, allowing North Carolina A&T to win its first set of the year, but the Spartans turned it on as the match wore on in a 3-1 victory over the Aggies Tuesday evening at Joseph Echols Hall.

In their first home match of the year, the Spartans won, 25-18, 23-25, 25-15, 25-12, thanks to 15 kills from junior Beatriz Ferreira. NSU ran its record to 4-8 overall, while the Aggies fell to 0-17.

NSU hit .216 with 57 kills but committed 27 attack errors and 12 service errors. The Aggies hit just .017 and had 23 attack errors. NSU also held a big advantage in digs, 69-47, led by senior Tracey Copley with 23. The Spartans had six players with at least six or more kills.

Junior Kristen Burt tallied a double-double with 38 assists and 14 digs to go along with six kills. Junior Charlotte Armstead and senior Jasmine Frazier pitched in with nine kills each, while freshman Adrian Ramos and junior Megan Lavo added eight and seven, respectively.

The Aggies were led by Jenea Daniels with eight kills, nine digs and three blocks. Devonte' Reese posted 12 digs, and Chelsea Fox had 23 assists. A&T held a 4-2 advantage in blocks.

NCCU Falls To Radford In Three

DURHAM, N.C.- North Carolina Central freshman Dayanna Arrufat led the Eagles with 11 kills in Tuesday night's match against the Radford Highlanders, but her efforts were not enough to guide the Eagles to victory.  Radford defeated NCCU 25-20, 25-17, 25-18.

Along with Arrufat' s 11 kills, senior Emanuelle Santos and freshman Ashley McCarthy finished the night with four kills apiece.  While Kalao and freshman Alice Genna distributed 11 assists each.  Santos supplied two service aces in the loss, while accumulating nine digs.  McCarthy assisted in the defensive campaign with two block assists.

Collectively, NCCU amassed 26 kills, five service aces, 29 digs and four team blocks.

The Highlander offense was led by Wiechecki, Carly Fleming and Leigh Myers.  Wiechecki finished with 10 kills, while Fleming added seven kills to the win and Myers circulated 18 assists.  Emily Carlin collected eight digs and supplied two service aces, while Fleming added three solo blocks and four block assists.

Lady Bears Fall Short in 3-2 Loss at American

WASHINGTON, D.C.- Morgan State passed up a golden opportunity on Tuesday night to record the program's first victory over American in 23 meetings. In the series' previous 22 contests, only three times (1998, 2006 and 2007) have Lady Bear teams recorded a set victory over the Eagles. Last night Morgan State would force its first-ever five-set contest against the Eagles, but would come up short, falling 2-3 (25-17, 12-25, 20-25, 28-26, 7-15) in a non-conference match at Bender Arena.

The loss overshadowed a season-high and match-high tying 18 kills from Kierra Outlin, while Nangeeshie Plaud added 13 kills and 11 digs. Erin Cox finished with a match-high 18 digs and Ngebui (Natalie) Chafeh recorded a double-double with 43 assists and 16 digs for Morgan State, who after dropping 10 consecutive contests this season by way of sweeps, have now played in three straight five-setters.

American (9-9) was led by Rebecca Heath and Juliana Crum, who both tallied a team-high 18 kills. Heath added a team-high 13 digs, while Crum had 11 to both record double-doubles. Monkia Smidova finished with a match-high 47 assists and nine digs.

Led by Wilson and Durham, who each totaled four blocks, Morgan State held a 9.0-6.0 blocking advantage over the Eagles.

Lady Bison Still Searching to Snap Skid

RICHMOND, VA -The Lady Bison, now 1-15, fell to the VCU Rams (5-11) in a quick three sets at VCU's Siegel Center.

Offensively, senior outside hitter, Tosin Elebute, led the team in kills with only nine kills. Stephanie Shultis finished the match with 11 assists.

The Rams played comfortably on their home court. Kristin Boyd led her team in kills putting away 14 balls. Courtney Hott complimented her with 11 kills. Setter Cecilia Aragao finished with 32 assists. The Rams finished with 43 kills as a team and 35 digs to the Lady Bison's 20 kills and 20 digs.
