Bears Rally to Defeat Coppin State 20-25, 18-25, 25-16, 25-17, 15-8
BALTIMORE -- Ariel Richard had 14 kills and 17 digs and Janka Schmitt added 11 kills, but Morgan State rallied to defeat Coppin State 20-25, 18-25, 25-16, 25-17, 15-8 on Sunday in the Eagles' MEAC opener in the Physical Education Complex.
Coppin State dominated the first two sets and appeared on its way to an easy victory over the Bears, but Morgan State stormed back to win the final three sets and escape with the win.
Coppin State (3-13, 0-1 MEAC) hit a combined .185 in winning the first two sets, but hit only -.050 over the final three sets. Conversely, Morgan State hit -.048 in the first two sets and .141 over the final three sets.
Kierra Outlin had 11 kills to lead Morgan State (3-13, 1-0 MEAC), while Natalie Chafeh added six kills, 10 digs and 28 assists.
Morgan State, which snapped a 13-match losing streak with the win, also was aided by nine blocks and 15 Coppin State service errors.
Coppin State also received 20 digs from Gabrielle Otero and six kills and five blocks from Salena Weekly.

North Florida Pecks Lady Rattlers, 3-1
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Sept. 25) - Florida A&M' swoes continue as they dropped their tenth match in a row to the University of North Florida, 3-1 (19-25, 23-25, 25-23, 21-25) Sunday afternoon at the Al Lawson Center.
FAMU (0-10) was paced by Maria Ceccarelli with a team high 14 kills, followed by Lorrin Rucker with 12, while Marija Jovanovic rounded out the cast of double-digit kills performers with 11. Karol Marquez led the Lady Rattlers in digs with 22, while Diana Gonzales finished with a team high 40 assists.
UNF(7-8) had four Ospreys to finish in double-digit kills as Paige Pridgeon tallied a game high 16 kills, followed by Anna Budinska with 15. Carolyn Jenkins collected 11 kills, while Marija Pantovic finished with ten kills to round out the cast double-digit kill performers for UNF. Nicole finished the set with a game high 30 digs, while Casey Gioivanazzi finished with a game high 63 assists.
