Two members of the 2011 NCAA Champions have stayed busy this off- season. T'nia Falbo and Megan Buja both just returned from the 2011 United State Bowling Congress (USBC) Junior Gold Championships held earlier this month in Las Vegas. The pair finished 41st and 42
nd respectively in a field of nearly 600 girl bowlers.
Falbo was ninth overall after 12 games but dropped down over the course of 30 total games. She made the semi-final field of 72 bowlers but missed the final match play cut for the top 16. She finished with an average of 192.60, less than six pins in average of making the cut. Buja, coincidentally, was right behind her, averaging a 192.43. They tallied 5,778 and 5,773 pins respectively.
Buja posted the highest games of the pair in the round, recording a 211 and 209 in games 28 and 27 respectively. Falbo broke 200 just once, rolling a 203 in game 28. Buja had the highest game in the event for the pair, rolling a 256 in game 10 while Falbo posted a 254 in game nine. Falbo was slightly more consistent however, staying near the top, starting in 13th and finalizing her lowest, 41st, at the end. Buja, however, worked her way up to 42nd after starting 159th.
"Both bowled really well," said head coach Sharon Brummell who was on hand to watch the event. "I think both are capable of bowling better, but singles bowling is a whole different animal. I think to finish inside the top 50 among 600 of the nation's best young women bowlers is something to be proud of."
