Howard Student-Athletes Participate in Grassroots Project

WASHINGTON, DC - Howard University student-athletes teamed up with student-athletes at Georgetown and George Washington to participate in the Grassroots Project.

The Grassroot Project serves to educate at-risk youth from Washington D.C. about HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention by utilizing Division I "student-athlete" role models. Selected elementary/middle schools were invited to HU's Burr Gymnasium to participate in the The Grassroots graduation on April 27.

The Grassroots Project goals are to create a citywide core of athletes of all ages in the fight against AIDS in D.C., to work with schools and community based groups to implement their HIV prevention program, and to continually provide systematic monitoring and evaluation of their innovative curriculum and program model.
