MEAC Announces Softball Weekly Honors

Bethune-Cookman pitcher/firstbaseman Allison Garcia earned Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week honors in softball, the conference announced on Monday. Florida A&M's Jennifer Lindsey was named the Pitcher of the Week, while teammate Francesca Singletary earned Rookie of the Week accolades.

Garcia (P/1B, 5-7, Sr., Chino Hills, Calif.)  averaged .467 (7-of-15) from the plate with seven RBI and two home runs to guide the Lady Wildcats to a 4-1 record last week. Defensively, she aided B-CU with 13 putouts and 10 assists. As a pitcher, Garcia recorded a 1.81 ERA and struck out 16 batters in four games.

Lindsey (P, 5-6, So., Jacksonville, Fla.)  went 2-0 last week with a 0.00 ERA  in non-conference play against Troy and North Carolina Central.  Lindsey pitched a combined 12 innings and struck out 11 batters. She allowed only one run and one walk in the victories.

Singletary (P/INF, 5-4, Fr., Boynton Beach, Fla.)  hit .700 from the plate with four RBI, one triple and three doubles to aid FAMU in three victories last week. The rookie scored seven runs and walked twice in 10 plate appearances. She added eight assists in the defensive effort.  

Other Top Performers:

Paige Arnold (CSU) went 2-1 for the week with 15 strikeouts and three walks in four games.

Brittany Barker (How) hit .750 from the plate with one home run and one double in a 12-3 win over Bowie State.

Tiffany Brents (Ham) earned two wins in conference play against Maryland Eastern Shore last week.


Travonna Byrd (Ham) recorded four RBI and two doubles against Maryland Eastern Shore last week.

Jasmin Donaldson (FAMU) posted six RBI with one home run and one triple, while hitting .500 from the plate, to aid the Lady Rattlers to a 3-1 mark last week.

Jade Dudley (CSU)
hit .600 for the week against Mount St. Mary's (Md.)  and Morgan State and posted four RBI and one home run during four games.

Kelsey Grochow (SCSU) tallied four RBI and three doubles in five games for the Lady Bulldogs.

Ryanne Hill (NCAT) hit .400 from the plate with three RBI and one home run against South Carolina State.

Emily Johnson (How) earned the win against Bowie State with 10 strikeouts and one walk in six innings of play.

Tiffany Macklin (NCAT) was .444 with two RBI and two doubles in nine plate appearances against South Carolina State.

Stephanie Martello (DSU) averaged a .385 with six RBI, one home run, and two doubles in four games for the Lady Hornets.

Lorae Robinson (How) was 7-of-16 (.438) from the plate with two RBI, one double and three stolen bases in four games for the Lady Bison.

Kelsey Rodney (B-CU) posted five RBI, one home run and one triple in five games for the Lady Wildcats.

Stephanie Sarris (DSU) picked up a pair of wins and earned a 1.86 ERA with eight strikeouts and two walks in three games.

Jeanette Sauceda (NSU) recorded six hits with two RBI and two doubles in five games for the Spartans.  

Andrea Waters (DSU) hit .375 with four RBI and three doubles to aid the Lady Hornets to a 2-2 mark last week.
