Walk-Off Single Gives B-CU Doubleheader Sweep of NSU
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - A walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh inning gave Bethune-Cookman a sweep of the Norfolk State Saturday afternoon. The Wildcats won Game 1, 7-1, before earning the 2-1 victory in Game 2 at Sunnyland Park in the conference opener for both teams.
Junior Danielle Wright doubled in the top of the seventh to tie Game 2 before Bethune-Cookman won it in the bottom of the frame. In Game 1, the Wildcats used a five-run third inning to pull out the win as they ended the day 14-20 overall and 2-0 in conference play. NSU fell to 7-15, 0-2.
Freshman Jamie Schulle (1-6) pitched well in the second game, giving up two earned runs on 10 hits in 6.1 innings. Allison Garcia (9-7) earned the win in both games, throwing six innings and giving up one unearned run on five hits in Game 1 and pitching all seven innings in Game 2. Garcia allowed just the one earned run on five hits in the nightcap.
Junior Casey Pomeroy (3-4) suffered the loss in the first game, giving up five runs, three earned, on three hits in 2.1 innings. Castaneda pitched 3.2 innings in relief, allowing two earned runs on four hits. Wright had three hits to lead the NSU offense.
Garcia had four RBI and scored a pair of runs on the day, while shortstop Aurelia Gamch scored a pair of runs in the first game. Center fielder Ashton Hinds scored both of Bethune-Cookman's runs in the second game.

Lady Rattlers Sweep NCCU In Doubleheader
CARY, N.C. (Thomas Brooks Park) -Florida A&M seized two wins against North Carolina Central in non-conference action on Saturday, April 2 at Thomas Brooks Park in Cary, N.C.
Florida A&M defeated North Carolina Central 21-1 during game one of the day. FAMU went on to earn its second win of the afternoon with a score of 11-1.

SC State Softball Takes Doubleheader Against NC A&T
Greensboro, NC--SC State defeated North Carolina A&T, 3-0 and 5-2, in MEAC doubleheader at North Carolina A&T. With the win the Lady Bulldogs picked up its first conference series win of the season.
In Game One, SC State (6-29, 2-0 MEAC) scored two runs in the second and one in the third inning en route to the 3-0 game one victory.
The Lady Bulldogs continued their aggression in Game Two as they put up runs in four-of-seven innings. SC State scored one run each in the first and third, two in the fifth and an additional run in the sixth. NC A&T (5-19, 0-2) managed to put two runs on the board in the sixth inning before falling 5-2 in Game Two.
SC State was led offensively by Tonya Giles with three runs and two hits, Sonya Giles with two runs and two hits, and Kelsey Grochow with two runs.
On the mound, Raven Johnson and Vianney Gomez were the winners of Game one and Game two respectively; while Hope Fletcher and Tranea James were the losers in Games One and Two.

Morgan State Sweeps Coppin State in MEAC Doubleheader
BALTIMORE -- Morgan State rode the pitching of Jordan Eades and Megan Johnson to a doubleheader sweep of Coppin State in the Eagles MEAC opener on Saturday at Lois T. Murray Field.
Morgan State won the first game 3-2 in extra innings as Eades went the distance and didn't allow an earned run to pick up the victory, while Johnson and Eades combined to allowed CSU just two hits and one earned run in a 6-2 victory to complete the sweep.
Coppin State (6-9, 0-2 MEAC) took a 1-0 lead into the bottom of the seventh inning of game one before the Bears rallied.
Tamra Griffin doubled to lead off the inning and after a strikeout Gabrielle Gomez had an infield single. Boshia Richardson hit into a fielder's choice and pinch-runner Hannah Montgomery was retired at third base.
With two outs, Shareday Christina hit a double that scored Gomez and tied the score at 1-1.
The Eagles regained the lead in the top of the eighth inning using the international tie-breaker system.
With Stacey Burgos placed on second base to begin the inning Amber Miller advanced her to third with a groundout.
Jade Dudley delivered an RBI single scoring Burgos giving the Eagles a 2-1 lead.
Morgan State (9-19, 2-0 MEAC) answered back in the bottom of the inning.
Eades was placed on second to begin the inning and Amber Frame and Devina Brown were each hit by a pitch to load the bases with no outs.
Tiffany Rubin singled to tie the score at 2-2 and Griffin brought home the winning run with an RBI on a fielder's choice to secure the victory for the Bears.
Dudley gave the Eagles an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning of the second game when her single scored Charma Robinson.
Morgan State scored a run in the bottom of the first and then added two runs in the second and three runs in the third inning to take a 6-1 lead.
The Eagles other run came when Erica Washington produced an RBI groundout that scored Dudley.
