MEAC Announces Softball Weekly Honors

Morgan State second baseman Amber Frame earned Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week honors in softball, the conference announced on Monday.  Coppin State's Paige Arnold was named the Pitcher of the Week, while Delaware State's Stephanie Sarris earned Rookie of the Week accolades.

Frame (2B, 5-7, Jr., Baldwin Park, Calif.)  was a perfect 4-of-4  from the plate with six RBI and two home runs  to aid the Lady Bears in two victories last week. Frame scored three runs and walked twice in four at-bats. Defensively, the second baseman added eight putouts.

Arnold (P, 5-7, Jr., Detroit, Mich.) tallied a 0.34 ERA in three games against Delaware State last week. In 20.2 innings of action, the junior struck out 17, did not allow a walk and tallied one earned run.   

Sarris (P, 5-7, Fr., Rohnert Park, Calif.) recorded a 0.00 ERA to go 2-1 against Coppin State last week. The rookie struck out four and walked three of the 54 batters she faced.

Other Top Performers:

Rachel Carroll (DSU) was 3-of-4 (.750) for week and hit a RBI single to get the 1-0 win against Coppin State.


Jordan Eades (MSU) earned the win, striking out three and recording a 0.00 ERA against Maryland Eastern Shore.

Gabrielle Gomez (MSU) hit .833 (5-of-6) with four RBI and two doubles in two Lady Bear wins.

Juanita Jernigan (NCAT)  averaged .375 in eight at-bats with six RBI and two homeruns against Savannah State.

Casey Pomeroy (NSU) was 1-2 last week with a 2.74 ERA, including seven strikeouts, in 7.2 innings for the Spartans.

Jeanette Sauceda (NSU) was 3-of-4 from the plate with six RBI, one home run and one double in a 9-2 victory against Maryland Eastern Shore.

Melina Valles (NSU) recorded two RBI, on 4-of-9 from the plate to aid the Spartans to a 2-2 mark last week.
