Florida A&M to Take on North Carolina A&T on ESPNU

The Florida A&M Lady Rattlers will host the North Carolina A&T Lady Aggies during a nationally televised broadcast, Friday, April 15 at the FAMU softball complex in Tallahassee, Fla.  The game will air live on ESPNU beginning at 3:30 p.m. EST.

The broadcast marks the sixth consecutive season the MEAC has televised a softball game on the college sports network.

The 2009 MEAC champion Florida A&M Lady Rattlers are currently 17-18 overall and 2-1 in MEAC play.  Junior Tenisha Dixon and sophomore Jasmin Donaldson lead the Lady Rattlers. Dixon is averaging .333 in 114 appearances and has recorded 14 RBI and a conference leading five triples.  Donaldson, an All-MEAC Preseason Team selection, has posted 35 hits, 11 RBI and one home run in 101 appearances.

The North Carolina A&T Lady Aggies, who advanced to last year's championship finale, are 6-21 overall and 1-2 in MEAC play. The 2009 MEAC Player of the Year Ryanne Hill leads the Lady Aggies with 16 RBI and four home runs.  Sophomore Hope Fletcher is batting .388 from the plate with 14 runs and five triples.

In the last regular season meeting between the two teams Florida A&M Head Coach Veronica Wiggins recorded her 550th career victory; however the Lady Aggies won the series 2-1.

The 2011 MEAC Softball Championship is scheduled for May 12-14 at the Ormond Beach Sports Complex, 700 Hull Road, in Ormond Beach, Florida.  The top four teams in each division will compete against one another in the double elimination tournament for the conference title.
