MEAC Announces Softball Weekly Honors

Delaware State left fielder Jordan Reid earned Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week honors in softball, the conference announced on Monday. Howard's Carly Martin was named the Pitcher of the Week,  while Delaware State's Stephanie Martello earned Rookie of the Week accolades.

Reid (LF, 5-8, Jr., Accokeek, Md.)  hit .750 from the plate with four RBI, one triple and one double to aid the Lady Hornets to a 4-0 mark last week. The left fielder scored four runs and walked twice in 12 appearances at the plate. Defensively, she added five putouts in the victories.

Martin (P, 5-5, Sr., Hanover, Md.)  went 1-0 last week with a 1.00 ERA  against Coppin State.  Martin pitched a complete game and struck out four batters. She allowed only one run and one walk in the victory.  

Martello (INF, 5-7, Fr., Oxnard, Calif.)  averaged .545 with six RBI, one home run and one double in four conference victories for the Lady Hornets. She added 17 putouts and one assist in the defensive effort.  

Other Top Performers:

Ashlyn Campbell (DSU) struck out seven and recorded a 2.03 ERA in four games for the Lady Hornets.

Charlise Castro (UMES) posted four RBI, one home run, and one double in five games for the Lady Hawks.

Brittany Doty (FAMU) tallied two RBI and one double to aid the Lady Rattlers to a 2-1 series win against Norfolk State last week.

Jordan Eades (MSU) recorded a 1.75 ERA with eight strikeouts in 16 innings for the Lady Bears.

Aurelia Gamch (B-CU) posted four RBI, one home run, and one triple to aid the Lady Wildcats to a 3-2 mark last week.

Allison Garcia (B-CU) went 3-1 last week with a 2.23 ERA against South Florida and South Carolina State.

Carmen Gurrola (UMES) threw a complete game against Bowie State, striking out six and walking one.

Ryanne Hill (NCAT) hit .625 from the plate with three RBI and one double against North Carolina Central.

Jasmine James (UMES) scored two runs in three at-bats in a win over Bowie State.

Trina Kindred (How) was 7-of-15 (.467) from the plate with four RBI and one double in five Lady Bison games.

Detavia Kenan (NCAT) hit .625 with three RBI and one double in eight plate appearances against North Carolina Central.

Jennifer Lindsey (FAMU) went 1-1 last week with a 1.14 ERA, while striking out eight, against Norfolk State.

Casey Pomeroy (NSU) was 1-1 last week with a 2.69 ERA, including six strikeouts, in 13 innings for the Spartans.

Boshia Richardson (MSU) hit .400 from the plate with two RBI and one double against Hampton.

Kelsey Rodney (B-CU) posted three RBI, one triple, and two doubles in five games for the Lady Wildcats.

Melina Valles (NSU) tallied four RBI and one double while hitting .375 against Florida A&M.
