Haley Recognized On NABC All-District Team

The National Association of Basketball Coaches announced on Wednesday the NABC 2011 Division I All-District team and redshirt junior Hillary Haley was named with District 15 second team honors.

The guard/forward led the University of Maryland Eastern Shore in scoring this season with an average of 16.8 points per game and was second in the team with 5.8 rebounds per game.  Including MEAC Basketball Tournament games, Haley's scoring average is good for fourth in the conference.

Most recently, he recorded a double- double of 17 points and 10 rebounds in a double overtime 87-85 win over Florida A&M in the first round of the MEAC Tournament and tallied 17 points and seven boards in a 77-55 loss to Hampton in the tournament quarterfinals.

Haley scored in double figures in 20 of the last 21 games for the Hawks and poured in over 15 points in 17 of the last 21.  He had 25 double figure scoring games, which was the most on the team.

Bethune-Cookman junior C.J. Reed, Norfolk State's Kyle O'Quinn, Hampton's Darrion Pellum, Morgan State's Dwayne Jackson and North Carolina A&T's Thomas Coleman were named to the District 15 First Team.

Haley is joined by Coppin State's Michael Harper, Hampton's Kwame Morgan, Morgan State's Kevin Thompson and Bethune-Cookman's Alexander Starling on the second team.

All honors were selected and voted on by member coaches of the NABC and are student- athletes that represent the finest basketball players across America.  The 245 student- athletes, from 24 districts, are eligible for the State Farm Coaches' Division I All-America teams, to be announced on Saturday, April 2 during the NABC Convention and NCAA Final Four.
