Softball Recap: March 20

TROY, Ala. - Florida A&M used a four-run third inning to lift themselves to a 6-0 win over Troy in game one, while the Lady Rattlers dropped a the second game 2-0 to the Trojans, Tuesday afternoon at the Troy University Softball Complex.

In game one, FAMU tallied five hits, while Troy garnered three.

Jennifer Lindsey (5-9) picked up the win for the Lady Rattlers as she went the distance pitching seven innings, giving up three hits, and striking out three, while Ashlyn Williams(6-10)  took the loss for the Trojans , allowing two hits  and striking out six in three innings.

Taylor West led FAMU from the plate as she finished with a game high two hits, while Troy had three Trojans to finish with one hit each.

Morgan Grove (7-3)picked up the win for Troy as she pitched four innings, allowing one hit and striking out four, while  Williams (2) picked up her second save of the season as she gave up one hit and striking out five in three innings of relief.

Robinson received the loss for FAMU as she gave up six hits, two earned runs and striking out one in six innings on the mound.

Wildcats Snap Losing Streak In Opener Before Falling To UNF In Nightcap

JACKSONVILLE - Bethune-Cookman snapped a four-game losing streak with a 5-1 victory over North Florida in the opening game of Tuesday's doubleheader before falling 6-5 to the Osprey in the nightcap.

Chastity Sanders and Allison Garcia combined on a four-hitter while Ashton Hinds and Kelsey Rodney drove in two runs each for the Wildcats in the opener.

Rodney tripled and scored on Sabrina Ferguson's single as B-CU took a 3-0 first inning lead.

In the sixth, Hinds drove in Michelle Banuelos Smith and Simone Caesar with her second single of the game.

Aurelia Gamch went 3-3 for B-CU, who posted 11 hits in the opener.

Garcia's solo homer in the fifth gave B-CU a 5-4 lead in the nightcap before UNF tied it in the sixth and score the game-winner in the seventh.

Hinds scored B-CU's first run in the third when she scored on Gamch's double. In the fourth, Ceasar tripled in two runs and scored on a throwing error.
