Lady Pirates Recognized by Richmond Times-Dispatch

Three members of the Hampton's  women's basketball team were recognized Tuesday by the Richmond Times-Dispatch, as the newspaper released its 2010-11 Women's Basketball All-State Teams.

Junior guard Jericka Jenkins was named to the paper's First Team, coming off a season in which she led the team in scoring (13.4 points per game) and assists (7.2 assists per game). In fact, Jenkins ranked second in the NCAA in assists per game, as well as in assist/turnover ratio (2.96).

Jenkins was a All-MEAC first team selection and a member of the MEAC All-Tournament Team.

Senior forward Quanneisha Perry earned Richmond Times-Dispatch Honorable Mention; the two-time MEAC Defensive Player of the Year was second on the team in scoring (12.7 ppg) and led the MEAC in rebounding at 9.0 per contest.

Perry, a two-time MEAC Player of the Week and two-time MEAC Defensive Player of the Week this season, was named the MEAC Tournament's Most Outstanding Player after averaging 12.0 points and 8.3 rebounds a contest in the tournament.

Head coach David Six, in his second year with the Lady Pirates, was named by the newspaper as the state's Coach of the Year. He led Hampton to a 25-7 season - the second straight year in which the Lady Pirates won 20 games - while going 15-1 in the MEAC.

In two years, Six has won two MEAC Tournament titles and made two NCAA Tournament appearances. He is 45-19 in his two seasons at Hampton.
