MEAC Completes Day One of Bowling Championship

The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) completed the first day of the 2011 MEAC Bowling Championship at the Gate City Lanes in Greensboro, North Carolina.

The eight-team field competed in traditional team games and Baker games to determine seeding for the tournament.

Maryland Eastern Shore, earned the top seed heading into tomorrow's action with a 7-2 mark. The Lady Hawks posted a 7,588 total pinfall including a 3,929 in Baker play. Maryland Eastern Shore will face-off against South Carolina State, the No. 8 seed, tomorrow in match one.

The defending MEAC champion Delaware State Lady Hornets, earned the second seed with a 5-4 mark and 7,099 total pinfall. DSU will meet No. 7 Bethune-Cookman in match two.

Florida A&M, the third seed, is followed by Norfolk State in fourth and Hampton in fifth. Morgan State, Bethune-Cookman and South Carolina State earned the sixth through eighth seeds, respectively.

The No. 4 Norfolk State Spartans will take on the No. 5 Hampton Lady Pirates while the No. 3 Florida A&M Lady Rattlers will face No. 6 Morgan State in matches three and four, respectively.

The matches will begin tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. with teams competing in a best-of-seven Baker series.

The MEAC bowling championship wraps up on Sunday at 10 a.m. beginning with the semifinal round and concluding with the championship final at 11:45 a.m. The championship match will be televised in a tape-delayed format and will air on ESPNU on March 28 at 7 p.m.

Admission to the bowling championship is free and open to the public.
